The Tennessee Titans now have two real options for the post season.

To be honest, until Mike Herndon posted early last week I honestly didn’t think there was more than one path for the Tennessee Titans to enter the post season, and that was as the second wildcard.

However, there is still a chance that the Tennessee Titans could outright win the division.

So, let’s talk about that as option 1.

#1 Titans win the AFC South

For the Titans to win the AFC South they would have to end up at 10-6, which is no small task. That would include a win over the Indianapolis Colts pushing the Titans to a 4-2 record in the division.

However, for the Titans to clinch the AFC South crown the Texans would have to lose two games, and one of those would have to include a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While it isn’t impossible, it is tough to imagine Jacksonville putting up 14 or more on Houston, so it would have to be a game won by that defense.

#2 Titans make the 2nd wildcard spot

This one is easier in that you have a lot more leeway in how you get in. The Miami Dolphins have to face Minnesota and Jacksonville (who the Titans are going to have to cheer for a lot down the stretch) as well as division rival Buffalo who has gotten pretty hot the last month or so.

The only other condition is that the Ravens or Steelers have to lose one more game, and with Baltimore going to LA to face the Chargers and the Steelers matching up with New England and New Orleans that shouldn’t be too much to ask.

In fact, the games that scare me most are on the Titans schedule. The New York Giants just put up 40 points on the Washington Redskins. You can argue that the Redskins aren’t very good, but the Giants did that without Odell Beckham which is terrifying.

On top of that the Titans need to beat Andrew Luck, which seems impossible based off of recent history.

I think the Titans have a great shot at the playoffs, but to do so they are going to have to play like they have at their peak. It is going to take a good offense to keep pace with the likes of the Colts and the Giants, but if they can handle that task I like their chances.
