Tennessee Titans need to improve even more offensively.

The Tennessee Titans have a chance to win the game against the New England Patriots, but there is one thing they must do: score early.

It is hard looking for patterns for victory against a team with just two losses all year, even worse when that team has won six games in a row.

The one note that stands out the most has to do with 1st quarter scoring. Look at this:

When New England is ahead after the 1st: 5-0

When New England is behind after the 1st: 1-2

You can’t let a team like the Patriots come in and dictate the pace of the game. If you get behind against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady after the first quarter you can bet that you aren’t going to out coach them down the stretch.

Can you build a lead against a defense as flawed as the Patriots while also holding Tom Brady off? That is the key, and history has shown us this year that if you don’t do that early there is no chance of you doing it at all.

The one win they had after being down was the close call vs the Chicago Bears where they barely won a shootout.

If the Titans have struggled this year to find a lead after a first quarter especially after the beginning of the season. The Titans led after the first quarter in each of the first four games (going 3-1) and then failed to do so every game since going just 1-3 after a great comeback vs Dallas.

The offense has looked better for Tennessee in the last two games, so there is a glimmer of hope. It will be interesting to see if the Titans finally come out with some aggression and some swagger after back to back solid games?

To that end, the New England Patriots are one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. While Stephon Gilmore has had a great season, but Jason McCourty has struggled despite having a nice PFF score.

The Tennessee Titans have to get something this week from a receiver other than Corey Davis, who is having a really solid year. In fact it doesn’t even have to be a big day from one guy, they can have several guys step up like they did last week with Jonnu Smith, Dion Lewis, Cameron Batson, and Darius Jennings all doing something big in the passing game.

If both are healthy, it would be great to see Taywan Taylor or Tajae Sharpe have a big game or at least have one big play.

At the end of the day the Titans have to find a way to get on the board early and that should be a huge emphasis of the game plan this week.
