Two injuries at linebacker means the Tennessee Titans should look to the free agent market.

The Tennessee Titans came into today seeming healthy enough at linebacker…and now two of them are in danger of missing at least Sunday’s game.

Things escalate quickly in the NFL and today proved that when newly elevated linebacker Robert Spillane had to stop practicing halfway through because of what is being described as a knee injury.

That sucks, but it isn’t terrible right? Well, on top of that Will Compton has a hamstring issue and now you have to worry about his health on Sunday.

Combine those two issues with Wesley Woodyard practicing in a limited capacity and Rashaan Evans going through growing pains and now it is time to be nervous.

It seems like by Sunday the only three fully healthy LBs the Titans could have are Jayon Brown (cool), Rashaan Evans (…ok) and Darren Bates. So maybe it is time to go shopping?

Here are the top free agent LBs right now (spoiler alert, it is a thin market):

NaVorro Bowman

-Bowman is shockingly only in his 9th year in the NFL and he is obviously a free agent. Despite being one of the best LBs in football just three years ago, he has had trouble finding work.

Honestly he isn’t bad, I can only assume that his knee injury limits him physically and teams are worried about paying him a decent chunk of money, but other than that I don’t know why he isn’t at least on a team as valuable veteran depth.

If the Titans signed him I think he would be a great fit on this defense and could be a great 3rd/4th LB for Tennessee.

Brian Cushing

-This one is purely because I think Vrabel likes bringing in defenders he has worked with before (spoiler alert I think if Clowney hits FA after this year they are going to go hard after him) and he has shown that so far.

Cushing could be another depth guy that the Titans bring in just because he and Vrabel would be on the same page quickly.

Aaron Wallace

-Remember Wallace? I thought he was poised to carve out a role for himself as a speed rusher and as a versatile off-ball LB if he stayed healthy this preseason.

While I was wrong, he is someone that the coaching staff is familiar with and I wonder if they would call him up knowing that he would be the smoothest to transition into this offseason considering that it is Wednesday already and that they just need an emergency player.
