Linebacker: B+

Brian Orakpo had a really good day despite not getting a sack. He is still a really high performer and I think the sacks will come soon.

Sort of in a similar way, Derrick Morgan had a nice day including picking up the first fumble that mattered on the season.

The real stars here were Harold Landry, Jayon Brown, and to a lesser extent Sharif Finch.

Let’s start with Finch. In limited reps he got his first sack, and while it was more thanks to a good scheme rather than a great move, it was big that he got in Wentz’s face and finished, swallowing him up in his 6’4 frame.

More from Titan Sized

Jayon Brown is next and he is probably the Titans best off the ball linebacker of the season through four games. He has been flashing all over the screen blowing up screen passes and swing passes to backs, while also being a very good blitzer.

We need to talk about Harold Landry who is inching closer towards a guy you have to get on the field every snap defensively. Obviously he is a star vs the pass, with elite bend and get off he looks like the speed rusher the Titans have been missing for a decade.

I want to talk about the savvy plays he made today that weren’t his game changing strip sack. First, he made a big TFL on a screen pass to his side because I am sure the Eagles coaching staff thought that they could just catch him rushing upfield without awareness. They were wrong.

Then again later, he was pushed inside on a pass rush and Wentz started to scramble for what looked like it would have been a 15+ yard gain. But like a blur, you see the number 58 streak across the field and outrun Wentz to the corner taking him down for a small gain.

If you include guys like Wesley Woodyard, Rashaan Evans and Kamalei Correa this is the most talented and deep linebacker group the Titans have had in a LONG time.
