The Tennessee Titans defense needs another statement game.

I think the Tennessee Titans will end the season above average despite all the concern. However, the Titans defense should be the best unit on the field in almost any game.

While you don’t want to rely on a defense to carry a team for too long, this is a game where a dominant defensive effort should be achievable.

What I mean by this is, last week the Eagles allowed 5 sacks and 6 QB hits. That is not great when you are doing everything you can to keep your star QB upright.

Twice on film I saw the Eagles line just leave a rusher completely unblocked for the sack. I don’t know if that is on the center or the QB (depending on who is calling the protections) but I would make them prove that they have it figured out today.

Another reason why I felt compelled to write this article is because Philly just announced the Darren Sproles and Corey Clement are both inactive today.

That means that the starters will be a banged up Jay Ajayi and Wendell Smallwood. That isn’t the worst tandem of running backs the Titans will play this year, but it also isn’t the best.

Most importantly, with Sproles off the field you know that you have one less electric player to account for.

While the Eagles boast one of the best OLs in football and they have some really good tight ends, I expect them to be forced into a lot of passing situations today. If this defense stays as aggressive and intelligent as they have been since Week 2, then this could be a huge game for them.

I know it shouldn’t matter, but it would be nice to see the national media give credit to a Titans team that has quietly been one of the best and most consistent in the league since 2016.

I know I will probably just end up frustrated because a win will get explained away as the Eagles giving the game away, and a loss will just be because the Eagles are that much better than the Titans.

Still, I am hopeful for both this game and this team’s reputation. Even more so if the defense comes out and dominates up front.
