An updated projection of the Tennessee Titans 53-man roster.

In May I did a roster projection trying to figure out who was going to make the Tennessee Titans roster based on all of the buzz and conjecture before training camp.

Two weeks into the preseason and things have changed. Some guys have risen, others have fallen and some have just disappeared completely.

So here is an updated look at each position.

More from Titans News

Quarterbacks (2): Marcus Mariota, Blaine Gabbert

Who is in: No one

Who is out: Luke Falk

I thought that Falk may have had a chance to beat out Blaine Gabbert on the roster but man I was wrong. While I think Falk still has potential based on his college film, you need to do some nice things and pop in the preseason to convince an NFL team to keep 3 QBs. I don’t think he has done that.

Running backs: (4): Derrick Henry, Dion Lewis, David Fluellen, Akrum Wadley

Who is in: David Fluellen

Who is out: No one

I was wrong about Fluellen, at least so far. He has looked great as a back who can cut against the grain in this ZBS and get some chunk yards. He has looked like he belongs on this roster and given his special teams experience I think he is almost a lock.

Wide Receivers (7): Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor, Rishard Matthews, Tajae Sharpe, Darius Jennings, Nick Williams, Deontay Burnett

Who is in: Nick Williams, Darius Jennings

Who is out: Michael Campanaro

The best ability is availability, and for all the flak that Corey Davis has gotten for missing three practices it is Michael Campanaro whose absence has probably cost him a chance at the Titans roster.

Speaking of absence, there is a chance that Rishard Matthews starts the season on PUP  after his mysterious injury which means that there could be another open spot on the roster. For now though, I am including him because I think that is what will actually happen.

Nick Williams has been the biggest “riser” of camp showing that he can do it all. Everything from big catches, to blocks, to special teams tackles, to punt returns he has done it.

Jennings is a guy who has shown out in camp practices, but you really wouldn’t know it  by his preseason performances. He could be an odd man out if that doesn’t change, but with Matthews still on PUP it is giving him more chances to make this roster.

Tight Ends (4): Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, Luke Stocker, Anthony Firkser

Who is in: Anthony Firkser

Who is out: Phillip Supernaw

Supernaw’s injury cost him a roster spot, but it has always seemed like this roster would keep four tight ends. That opens the door for Firkser who has been pretty good as a blocker and may ultimately be an Anthony Fasano-type down the road.

Offensive line (8): Taylor Lewan, Quinton Spain, Ben Jones, Josh Kline, Jack Conklin, Dennis Kelly, Corey Levin, Kevin Pamphile

Who is in: No one

Who is out: Xavier Su’a-Filo

The backup offensive linemen have all been pretty bad except for Dennis Kelly and Corey Levin. Pamphile never really had a shot at the starting job, but he is good enough to earn a spot around the league and probably would start for a team like Seattle.

Defensive line (5): Jurrell Casey, Bennie Logan, DaQuan Jones, Austin Johnson, Julius Warmsley

Who is in: Julius Warmsley

Who is out: Antwaun Woods, David King

King has been disappointing, but his disappearance has lead to the emergence of Warmsley who has had TFLs in both preseason games.

He looks good and is doing more than most backup DLs around the league. That coupled with his familiarity with Mike Vrabel may earn him a spot in the top-5 DL (which he has earned).

EDGE (5): Brian Orakpo, Derrick Morgan, Harold Landry, Sharif Finch, Aaron Wallace

Who is in: Sharif Finch

Who is out: Josh Carraway

Finch has looked great this preseason and looks like he can hold up against the run as well as be a good pass rusher. If he develops this could be huge for the Titans needs in the 2019 NFL draft with Orakpo and Morgan both with expiring contracts.

Linebacker (5): Rashaan Evans, Wesley Woodyard, Jayon Brown, Will Compton, Daren Bates

Who is in: No one

Who is out: No one

No change here, so far so good.

Cornerback (5): Malcolm Butler, Adoree Jackson, Logan Ryan, LeShaun Sims, Kalan Reed

Who is in: No one

Who is out: No one

Again, no change here.

Safety (5): Kevin Byard, Kenny Vaccaro, Dane Cruikshank, Brynden Trawick, Kendrick Lewis

Who is in: Kenny Vaccaro, Kendrick Lewis

Who is out: Johnathan Cyprien

This one is pretty self evident. The only change that doesn’t really have to do with injury is Lewis making the roster. If he is healthy I think he has shown enough to stick out as the one backup safety with the skills to stick on this roster even without special teams ability.

Special teams (3): Ryan Succop, Brett Kern, Beau Brinkley

Who is in: No one

Who is out: No one

-Great three-man group, no change.

Last man in: Anthony Firkser

Last man out: David King
