Safeties O/U: Kevin Byard, 4 interceptions
Over
Since 2012 (last 5 season) there have been 6 players to lead the NFL in interceptions, or to be tied for the lead in interception. Here is what each of them did the year after they led the league in interceptions:

2013: Tim Jennings-4 INTs
2014: Richard Sherman- 4 INTs
2015: Glover Quin- 4 INTs
2016: Marcus Peters- 6 INTs
2016: Reggie Nelson- 5 INTs
2017: Casey Hayward-4 INTs
Over that time, none of them have followed it up with a season where they totaled less than 4 INTs.
Now, if you go back further you can find some examples of players that have fallen short of that mark, but there was a stretch where older players were having freak seasons past the age of 30. Guys like Charles Woodson and Ed Reed having one last big year before starting their decline.
Kevin Byard is about to turn 25 and is just in his third year in the NFL. His athletic profile and his production in college has to make you think that he is destined for great things.
While he may never have another 8 INT year (few players have one of those in their career) there is no reason to assume that averaging 4 or more a year is out of the question.
I’m going to be optimistic and trust that the hard working, “Mayor of Murfreesboro” will continue to be productive and will continue the streak of interception leaders following dominant years with very productive years.
