Expect Tennessee Titans to make one more move

Why I don’t think Jon Robinson and the Tennessee Titans are done making moves.

Jon Robinson is one of the most active GMs in the NFL, and the Tennessee Titans have benefited from that.

In 2016, the Titans finished their draft only to see Robinson add two more key pieces after April. First, Dorial Green Beckham was traded for Dennis Kelly, which shocked a lot of people. Little did we know that in a year DGB would be out of the NFL and Kelly would have proven to be a decent backup or 3rd OT.

In that same season, with the Titans offensive line looking bad Robinson took to the waiver wire to pick up Josh Kline. He later went on to be a part of the best offensive line performance in Tennessee in a decade.

That wasn’t just a one year thing either. Last year, the Titans added two wide receivers in the draft and added yet another in Eric Decker. While he wasn’t what we thought he would be, he had all the makings of a very solid free agent at the time.

Robinson also made the less heralded move of bringing in Erik Walden. While he wasn’t a Pro Bowler or anything, he was the Titans 3rd best EDGE last year and helped them out of some tight spots.

Still not done, Robinson traded for David King late in the preseason. He didn’t like the depth on the defensive line and made a move for a player that would ultimately make Karl Klug expendable…which still stings a little bit because he was a fan favorite.

So, the question is who is next?

There is really no rhyme or reason to the players Robinson brings in except that he thinks they will be able to contribute short term and be potential long term signings depending on age and impact. So, if I had to guess, these would be the guys on Robinson’s shortlist:

More from Titan Sized

-Bashad Breeland, CB

-T.J. Ward, S

-Connor Barwin, EDGE

-Delvin Breaux, CB

-Tamba Hali, EDGE

-Shea McClellin, LB

-Robert Ayers, EDGE

-Jeremy Maclin, WR

Those guys make the most sense given the roles they would play with Tennessee. While I wish I could use some metrics or filter to get a better idea, I honestly can’t predict this for a lot of reasons.

I don’t know how hard they are working on extensions right now and how much cap they will try to front load. I don’t know how they feel about letting the UDFAs get a chance to make the roster. Most importantly, Robinson just knows this league better than I do, I mean hell who had heard of Dennis Kelly before he traded the guy that we all labeled the Titans WR1 for him?

Still, those players make a ton of sense and I think they would all make this team better.
