The Tennessee Titans may have gotten the best EDGE in the draft.

There are value picks in every draft, but not often do you get one of the top players at the second most important position in football fall to the 2nd round. When the Tennessee Titans saw that, they pounced.

Surely by now you know that I am talking about Harold Landry EDGE, BC. You can go watch the film and see just how great he is and how at his peak, he looks like Von Miller.

But, that isn’t just hyperbole. There are some pretty solid athletic trends that show that this is an accurate representation of what Landry could be.

Marcus Mosher is someone I started following this offseason because of his detailed draft work, and this is something I found when looking up some EDGE analysis.

In case you can’t see, there are 13 names on that list. In the last 13 years, only 13 people have hit those metrics and let’s break down their impact in the NFL.

More from Titans News

The misses: Randy Gregory, Vinny Curry

Gregory has been held back by his issues off the field, while Curry just never turned into the guy people thought he would be. I would say because the 3-cone was slightly fraudulent based on his other athletic testing (4.98-40).

The young guns: Tyus Bowser, Jordan Willis

Both have been buried on depth charts. Willis only had 360 snaps this year (1 sack), Bowser only had 161 snaps (3 sacks). But as you can see Bowser was very productive last year in Baltimore.

Jerry Hughes

You kind of have to put Hughes in his own category here. Indianapolis completely wasted his potential and really stunted his development. Once he got away from that nightmare, he had back to back 10 sack seasons.

While he never really produced consistent dominance after that, he had a high peak and is still a solid 3rd EDGE in the NFL today.

The rising stars: Joey Bosa, Derek Barnett, Vic Beasley

These guys win in a variety of ways, but the most important thing is that they all win…a lot. Being productive and athletic in college is a huge indicator of future success on the EDGE. These guys are all rising stars and all should earn All-Pro honors one day if they already haven’t.

The Hall of Famers: Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Justin Houston, JJ Watt

The majority of this list comes down in the Hall of Famer territory. Guys that have either led the league in sacks and/or who have been consistently in the top-5 in sacks year in and year out.

Harold Landry

As you can see, 8 of the 10 players who are well into their career on this list turned out to be outstanding players that (at minimum) hit 10-sack seasons. Only one of the other two really turned out to be a bust with Gregory dooming himself off the field.

The other two look promising and it will be interesting to see their careers develop.

If you need even more analytics on how Landry is going to be a star, Justis Mosqueda posts his FPs (force players) every year, which almost always guarantee success on some level. Landry is on that list:

You can read a ton about FPs here, but just know that it means that the Titans got a player with top end potential in round two which almost never happens.

Again, go back to the tape and watch how dominant he is on that first. Then look at the numbers that support how good he will be. Once you have done those things, then you know just how good this pick was by Jon Robinson and the Tennessee Titans.
