Tennessee Titans could trade up with Seattle Seahawks

Tennessee Titans may need to have the Seahawks on speed dial.

Jon Robinson has been quiet this offseason on the trade market, but I imagine the Tennessee Titans GM will be making some calls very soon.

One call I expect to be made is the Titans trying to trade up from 25 to 18 with the Seattle Seahawks.

Currently, there are rumors that the Seahawks are trying to move out of 18 and collect more picks (like this one):

For a team motivated to make a trade like the Seahawks, this trade makes a lot of sense based on the Drafttek trade chart:

Titans receive: 18th overall pick

Seahawks receive: 25th overall pick, 89th overall pick (3rd round)

More from Titans Draft

Seattle gets to add another top 100 pick to a team that is quietly slipping into the bottom half of the NFL. That way they can add another offensive lineman or someone at a skill position.

What the Titans get is much more interesting for us. Between picks 18 and 25 there are four teams that could ruin the Titans getting one of their prime targets.

19: Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are solid enough at linebacker, but where I worry is at EDGE. Taco Charlton is the Dallas version of Kevin Dodd and there I could see them forgoing wide receiver or defensive back in order to add another pass rusher to partner with (or eventually replace) DeMarcus Lawrence.

20. Detroit Lions

The Lions could go either way, but honestly what scares me most is that Detroit will draft Harold Landry. In case you hadn’t heard they hired the BC defensive line coach to coach their own defensive line.

The idea of pairing him with Ziggy Ansah makes a lot of sense for a team struggling to find an identity outside of Matt Stafford.

  • 21. Cincinnati Bengals

Vontaze Burfict has a real chance of being cut and the other linebackers on that team are uninspiring at best. The Bengals need OL help desperately, but the same could be said about their LBs and going BPA (between those two positions) could lead to Leighton Vander Esch ending in the AFC North.

    24. Carolina Panthers

Julius Peppers can only be a band-aid on that pass rush for so long and outside of him the defensive end group is barren and needs to be replaced. They took a project in Vernon Butler a few years ago so they could love the potential of someone like Marcus Davenport.

    More from Titan Sized

With those four teams in front of the Titans it could be really hard for them to get anyone they really love in the first round. Tennessee is finally in a place where they need playmaker more than they need above average players to just plug holes.

While Jon Robinson has been really good in the 3rd round, it makes sense to give up that pick to make sure you can get one of the top guys on your board.

With that in mind, maybe the Seahawks and the Titans can make a deal where both people win and give the Titans the player that pushes them from playoff team to AFC Championship contender.
