Cornerback

Top Free Agent: Malcolm Butler, New England Patriots

Affordable Option: Kyle Fuller, Chicago Bears

In a league that has trended towards three-receiver sets, an NFL roster must have three capable cornerbacks to counteract these sets. The Titans currently have a great cornerback duo in Logan Ryan and Adoree’ Jackson, but the combination of LeShaun Sims, Brice McCain, and Tye Smith did not cut it in 2017. Although new DB Coach Kerry Coombs–one of HC Mike Vrabel’s best hires–could help one of these players develop, the Titans could look elsewhere for a capable third corner in 2018 free agency that will not need time to develop.

Kyle Fuller, a former first round pick for Chicago, experienced stellar seasons in 2017 and his rookie season, but struggled in 2015 before losing all of 2016 due to injury. This inconsistency drives his price down on the open market, but if he can sustain his level of play from the previous season in 2018, whoever signs him can get a young, athletic cornerback with great ball skills and coverage ability. A cornerback room with Ryan, Jackson, and Fuller would give the Titans one of the league’s best collections of young talent in the secondary.
