Four Key Remaining Games for the Tennessee Titans
By Matt Gibbons
The four most important games for the Tennessee Titans after the bye.
It’s hard to imagine that we are already halfway through the season and the Tennessee Titans are entering their bye week in Week 8.
Without a doubt, it is fair to say the Titans played a sleeper against the Cleveland Browns, but the good news is that they came away with a win. The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time and there will now be two weeks for the coaching staff to make changes and for the players to get healthy.
Usually we look at four key Titans for their upcoming game, but with it being their bye week, we will look at four key remaining games on the schedule.
Week 9 vs. Baltimore Ravens
This will be the first game after the bye and it will be a big one. It will be the first opportunity to see the potential changes the coaching staff makes for the offense and defense. The Ravens are currently on a two-game losing streak and have lost four of their last five. They play the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night this week.
It will also be a big week for players who are currently injured. Corey Davis and Johnathan Cyprien will start practicing next Monday and they could both see game action for the first time since the beginning of the season. November 5 will also be five weeks since Marcus Mariota hurt his hamstring and he should be pretty close to having full mobility.
Week 11 at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are one of the favorites in the AFC and are most likely the toughest opponent the Titans will face the rest of the season. This game is on Thursday night and Heinz Field will be loud.
This will be the perfect opportunity for the Titans to show that their preseason hype wasn’t fake. Although the Titans are currently 4-3, the hype is gone after some inconsistent performances on both sides of the ball and barely squeaking by the Browns last Sunday.
If they can pick up a few wins before the Thursday night showdown and then go into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers, the Titans will be taken seriously.

Week 13 vs. Houston Texans
This game will be more of a redemption game for the Titans. Of course, they were absolutely embarrassed by Deshaun Watson and the Texans earlier, losing 57-14 in the beginning of October in Houston.
This could also be important for the standings. The Texans are just a half game behind the Titans and Jags, but it could once again turn into a three-way tie with a win over the Seahawks this weekend.
Week 16 vs. Los Angeles Rams
The Titans were originally thought to have a pretty easy December schedule, but the Rams, who are currently sitting at 5-2, will make it a lot tougher.
This game is also on Christmas Eve and could have some potential clinching scenarios attached to it. Last year, the Titans didn’t get the job done on Christmas Eve against the Jags and it was the reason they missed the playoffs. They need to make sure they take care of business this time around.
Honorable Mention: Week 17 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Titans and Jags are currently tied for first in the AFC South and this matchup could be the biggest game of the year, but there is also the chance it means nothing. Let’s hope this game means nothing and the Titans will have already locked up the division by then.
