Does this trade make sense for the Tennessee Titans?
Which potential trade candidate from Jason La Canfora’s trade bait list makes the most sense for the Tennessee Titans?
Before I start, let’s address the elephant in the room. JLC is not known for his credibility when it comes to the Titans.
Whether he is telling Paul Kuharsky to go work in a cafeteria or telling Titans fans for the 10th time that either Jon Bon Jovi or Peyton Manning will by the team, he has his issues.

However, the original post is about trade candidates who should be getting some calls with the trade deadline coming up pretty quickly.
He lists 11 players:
-Larry Fitzgerald
-Cordy Glenn
-Pernell McPhee
-Joe Thomas
-Duane Brown
-Vontae Davis
-Anthony Castonzo
-Jarvis Landry
-Cameron Wake
-Jimmy Garoppollolpopo (It might be spelled Garoppolo)
-Malcolm Butler

Immediately the names that stick out to me are: Pernell McPhee and Cameron Wake given this team’s lack of pass rush. The other big name being the only CB on here who isn’t old and injured, Malcolm Butler.
So, I took those names to Jim Cobern and he said there was one clear standout of the group:
McPhee has some ability left as complimentary rusher. Wake is over the hill. Butler, stay away.

So if McPhee is the guy to target, what does JLC think the asking price should be?
“I’d want a fair amount in return for him if I moved him — it would have to be a football trade and not a salary dump — but it may be worth exploring. He’s making $7M this season and has about $15M remaining in the final two years of his deal.”
McPhee is making good money and he will be 29 in December. That means that he probably only has two or three more peak years left. However, having a 3rd EDGE would be HUGE for this team.
The most I could see the Titans giving up is a 4th round pick. You can get starters in the 4th round so it is still a quality pick. However, it isn’t such a large price tag that you feel like you are giving away the future and paying an older guy a good chunk of change.
The Titans need pass rush help in a bad way, maybe this could be someone they look at down the road.
