Part three of a Tennessee Titans preview for the 2017 NFL season.

Tennessee Titans fans, this year is our year to make a statement to the NFL that we are back to relevancy! Here is my 2017 preview, a three-part series of the Two-Tone Blue. Part three will give three bold predictions, best and worst case scenarios, and my overall prediction for the Tennessee Titans.

Three Bold Predictions

The Titans Will Win the AFC South

The Indianapolis Colts will be the hands-down favorite in the 2017 season.  They are also the biggest threat for the Titans.

The Colts have quarterback Andrew Luck and he is terrific. He led the Colts to the playoffs his rookie year with a pretty bad roster. Not only did he do that, Luck also turned T.Y. Hilton into a top 10 wide receiver. There’s no question the Colts are the Goliath of the AFC South.

The defending 2016 AFC South champion Houston Texans are in a decline. They drafted rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson in the first round in an attempt to find their franchise quarterback.  Houston needs a new quarterback-of-the-future to be serious contenders in the league. At best, their offense will continue to be mediocre. However, their defense is outstanding.  Needless to say, an excellent defense is not enough to win the division.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are close to being competitive in the AFC South, but they have a problem: Blake Bortles is their starting quarterback. The Jaguars will be much improved this year, but they are not ready to the win the AFC South.

The Titans have a perfect opportunity to win this division this year.  All of the stars are aligning in their favor. Without any hesitation, the Titans are on the rise and will win the AFC South.

The Titans Will Go Deep Into the Playoffs

The Titans will have a powerful impact on Nashville when they get into the playoffs.  Like the Predators bid for the Stanley Cup, the Titans will carry momentum in Nashville that will inspire a fan base throughout Tennessee. Needless to say, Nashville sports fans have proven that they are loyal; win or lose.

More from Titan Sized

The Music City may host a playoff game this postseason. With Nashville on the rise to become a nationally recognized sports town, this is exciting for the entire region. A big Titans splash in the playoffs will reverberate throughout the Southeast.

Marcus Mariota Creeps Into The MVP Conversation

Mariota definitely has the supporting cast to put up some big numbers. While he won’t win the MVP, he will find a way to sneak into the MVP conversation late in the season if he can stay healthy and bring his A-Game.

Best Case Scenario

13-3

Dallas did it last season with Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot, and their offensive linemen. So can Tennessee! With Mariota and the sweet running back duo of DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, anything can happen.

How about the developing receiving core of Delanie Walker and company? How about having one of the best offensive linemen groups in the NFL? And an underestimated defense who could be a force in short time? Add to that a coach looking to make a name for himself and the potential is there for a big Titans season. If everything comes together, a 13-3 record is in the realm of possibility.

Worst Case Scenario

9-7

9-7 is the worst the Titans can do this year, barring injuries that could change everything. For now, the Titans are healthy and poised for greatness. Mike Mularkey is a below-average head coach, but he accomplished some good things last season.  With hard work and leadership, Mularkey could show himself to be an up-and-coming force in the NFL.

Overall Prediction & Conclusion

My overall prediction for the Tennessee Titans is a solid 10-6.  Without question, the Titans are ready for a 2017 AFC South title. With Mariota’s injury on Christmas Eve and the loss to Jacksonville last year, it could prove that he and the Titans could start slow this season. However, a late season push for the playoffs is bound to happen. Overall, this team has the potential to do great things. If there is ever a time to say the Titans are back to being relevant, now is the time to say it!
