Where will the Tennessee Titans start in the NFL power rankings?

NFL power rankings are largely subjective from writer to writer. However, reading them as a whole gives you a pretty good idea on where a team like the Tennessee Titans is perceived nationally.

While I usually wait for a bunch of different rankings to come out before I post one of these, today is different.

The preseason starts in full swing in just about 48 hours, so power rankings should be coming in more frequently.

Until I get a good idea of which power rankings I feel like have the best handle on the teams in the NFL, I am just going to list some individually that make sense with what they say.

Today, let’s look at where Bleacher Report ranks the Titans.

Tennessee Titans: 12 (Last year they ended at 17)

The Titans enter the season as a favorite to see the playoffs instead of a middling team after they improved through the draft and free agency.

Go read the full article above for the full analysis, but this part really stood out as the best breakdowns of the potential strengths of the Titans:

“…The Titans also have four guys who can push the passer off the edge.

What makes the Broncos defense so great is its ability to rotate guys off the edge and keep pressuring the quarterback. With Brian Orakpo, Derrick Morgan, Kevin Dodd and Erik Walden, the Titans can do the same. They might not be on the same level as Denver’s pass-rushers, but the concept is the same.

  • The Titans still have one of the best offensive lines and one of the top running games in the NFL. Adding pass-catchers like Eric Decker and Corey Davis will only help Marcus Mariota and the passing attack.”

That sums up what will make this team dominant if they progress:

    -Marcus Mariota

    -The pass catchers

    -The OL/RB combo.

    -Rotational pass rushers

If all of those things are as advertised now that the Titans have some depth at EDGE, then Tennessee will do big things this season.

In an ideal world, 12 would be perfect for the Titans given that they were the top AFC South team. On top of that they see another year with the Houston Texans (down 8 spots) and Indianapolis Colts (down 7 spots) falling backwards.
