The Tennessee Titans may have found another Day 3 contributor.

I will admit, with the first week of training camp in full go I was worried when I didn’t hear much about Tennessee Titans rookie linebacker Jayon Brown.

Brown and Taywan Taylor were the buzz-y rookies in the offseason during minicamp and OTAs.

It is natural for things to change when the pads come on and the buzz sort of disappeared for Brown.

However, the Titans rookie has recently reappeared especially in real game scenarios.

In the Friday Night Lights practice, Brown was one of the big names making a big impact agains the run and even as a blitzer according to the Titans radio twitter account:

Brown is someone who should be making rangy impact plays. He is an athletic linebacker who should match up well in coverage, but needed to show he could make plays with the pads on.

With Brown on a hot streak, I am interested in seeing exactly how he is used this preseason and season.

This isn’t just a few tweets here and there, Mike Mularkey is taking notice of Brown too:

In Jim Wyatt’s weekend mailbag he had positive things to say about Jayon Smith too:

Brown is fast, and he’ll be able to stay with tight ends. He stood up and made a solid play vs the run Friday night. Others are also in the mix at linebacker. Daren Bates has been getting a lot of work as well. Brown has earned solid reviews so far, though.

Like I said, I was concerned for a few days but it looks like Brown is acclimating quickly to life in the NFL.

With the preseason coming up quickly we will see a lot of Brown over the next few weeks, and I wonder if a strong preseason from him could move him up to the starter in nickel packages with Wesley Woodyard.
