Big news in the NFL today could lead to some moves in the Tennessee Titans front office.

One of the hardest things to do covering a team is trying to figure out what is going on in the front office. This holds true for the Tennessee Titans too.

Look no further than Jon Robinson the Titans GM. During his time in Tampa Bay the Buccaneers had some great drafts and then the year he leaves they trade up in the 2nd round and draft one of the worst kickers in the NFL.

The front office looks like a wreck after he left and it all likely doesn’t fall on one person, when one thing changes it forces a series of other moves.

When Jon Robinson left someone was put in his position and that guy obviously wasn’t as talented or wasn’t trusted enough to argue with the moves the Bucs made. Meaning that one person getting hired elsewhere could lead to people taking on more responsibility when they aren’t prepared or equipped to do so yet.

When the Carolina Panthers fired their GM Dave Gettleman, a name kept popping up: Ryan Cowden.

If you don’t know who that is, look no further than Paul Kuharsky’s tweet:

And that isn’t just speculation, Adam Schefter dropped this just a little big before the PK tweet:

So it looks like there is a strong chance that Cowden could be a great option for the franchise.

If that happens, I wonder if the Tennessee Titans would look hard at former GMs to fill the position and/or promote from inside. Both Dave Gettleman and John Dorsey (formerly of Kansas City) have Super Bowl titles under their belts.

Gettleman helped other Tennessee native Jerry Reese to two Super Bowl wins as a high ranking front office member of the New York Giants.

John Dorsey is slightly more interesting because in Green Bay he was a huge piece of that front office when they were building into a championship with Brett Favre and then when they reloaded into the Aaron Rodgers era.

Either one of those would be excellent additions to the Tennessee Titans front office and it would give them more Super Bowl winning experience on the roster and more connections across the league.

The preferable option is to keep the front office exactly the way it is and I hope that happens. However, if they do take Jon Robinson’s right hand man then I could see either one of these additions making sense.
