Maybe the Tennessee Titans don’t need another pass rusher.

There aren’t a lot of people who pound the table as hard as I do for the Tennessee Titans to find a way to get another pass rusher on to their roster.

I love the idea of adding a Hall of Fame lock like Dwight Freeney or trying to find a way to work out a trade for an underrated pass rusher in a packed room. However, maybe I have been overlooking something.

According to a tweet by Peter Reitz, there is a name that I have been (idiotically) ignoring.

While Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan jump off the screen there, it is Jurrell Casey who really shows out. I knew that the first two would be there after great years, but I forgot about the Pro Bowl DL.

Over the last four years, Casey has averaged nearly 7 sacks per season. That is a pretty great rate for a guy who plays all over the defensive line.

I have been discounting what he can do as a pass rusher for the Tennessee Titans which may have been bad analysis on my part.

While a constant pass rush from the edge is important, nothing is more effective against a pass that rushing right up the middle. That constant penetration is important.

With that in mind, maybe the Titans aren’t looking for more help on the edge because they have faith in guys like Karl Klug, Austin Johnson and Angelo Blackson for help on the pass rush.

While I still think a 3rd EDGE rusher needs to emerge this year to prevent that from being the first round pick in 2018, I can see the Tennessee Titans contingency plans for an injury to Brian Orakpo or Derrick Morgan might be to highlight the interior pass rush more.
