What is the best way to avoid “losing” OTAs and what should the Tennessee Titans be aiming for?

Right now, we are on the brink of a dead period in the NFL. All Tennessee Titans fans want is great news about their players coming out of camp and how hard they are working.

There are always a lot of contenders to be winners from OTAs. You could argue that Marcus Mariota being healthy again (early) makes him a winner.

A veteran like Jurrell Casey that somehow looks faster and stronger according to people that have watched him his whole career, is another one.

Rookies like Taywan Taylor and Jonnu Smith who are showing out in practices could also be argued as winners.

The only person dangerously close to falling in the loser category for the Tennessee Titans is Kevin Dodd.

News came out today (check the tweet above) that Dodd had another surgery in January and that he still isn’t healthy. We all knew he would be out until training camp, but not everyone knew he had another surgery.

That brings me to the only way to really lose OTAs: injury.

Right now Tennessee Titans fans have a depth chart penciled in, but we don’t know if some sleeper will rise up the chart or if they will bring someone else in to compete.

However, I think it is safe to say that no matter who starts, as long as everyone is healthy we know that a position group will be able to put their best player forward. Unless there is an injury.

Look at the Baltimore Ravens. Today, they lost their best cornerback Tavon Young to an ACL injury.

That injury could be devastating to the Baltimore Ravens who thought CB was such a big need that they addressed that position, not wide receiver (where they have no one) in the first round.
