Some players to keep your eye on as Tennessee Titans trade targets.

The Tennessee Titans made a few trades in the 2017 NFL Draft, but I don’t necessarily think they are done now.

Both before and after the 2016 NFL Draft the Tennessee Titans made moves for veteran players.

In one trade they acquired big name running back DeMarco Murray and in the other they grabbed tackle Dennis Kelly who no one knew at the time.

Fast forward to today and I can’t help but think that this roster just isn’t where I want it to be. The lack of an attempt to add another pass rusher or cornerback higher in the draft strikes me as odd.

I think the Tennessee Titans will be looking hard at some NFL veterans to fill some depth spots on their roster.

One key in determining if a player could be a trade option is how close that player’s current team is to the playoffs or contention (the farther the better). Another is how soon that player is set to be a free agent  (the sooner the better).

So, which players should the Tennessee Titans be kicking the tires on in the preseason?

  • Jeremiah Attaochu EDGE, LAC

Attaochu is a favorite of mine, and I remember coming out I likened his aggression and pass rush ability (at times) to James Harrison on stilts.

I really like him as a dynamic pass rusher to come on with the Tennessee Titans 2nd wave of pass rushers opposite Kevin Dodd.

The Chargers have Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, that is an outstanding young duo that I would desperately try to keep together if I was them.

    Shaquil Barrett EDGE, DEN

Barrett is the forth pass rusher on a team that needs to figure out how to turn their deep defense into offensive linemen and some youth/talent at wide receiver and running back to help their young quarterback.

I think a Barrett for Dennis Kelly deal makes a ton of sense for the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos. One team’s back ups can’t get to the quarterback, the other team’s starters can’t keep their quarterback on his feet.

    Bradley Roby CB, DEN

The Denver Broncos really need to move some pieces on defense and Roby is finally starting to be a commodity worth trading for. He is athletic and showed flashes in college, but if you are the Broncos are you going to cut Aqib Talib for him?

It honestly has to be a decision between one of those two over the next two years (he is a FA after the 2018 season) because they definitely are going to have to pay Chris Harris big money to stay around.

How can you pay Von Miller, Roby, Talib, Harris, Wolfe, Demaryius Thomas, and their QB who will need some money soon? You can’t. So trade some of those guys to get cheap, talented younger players to win now while also building.

    Eric Rowe CB, NE

Rowe isn’t a great cornerback, but he is exactly what the Tennessee Titans need. Last year, he was the third CB for the Patriots coming off the bench to push Logan Ryan into the slot where he was dominant.

I believe the Tennessee Titans think that LeShaun Sims can do that, but if he can’t why not get the guy that had great success doing that last year?

New England will probably start working guys like Justin Coleman and especially Cyrus Jones into their lineup at cornerback. If they work out a long term deal for Malcolm Butler then that is more than enough cornerbacks for a team like New England.
