Jurrell Casey, man, myth, future legend?

More from Titans News

For six years Casey has been a bright spot on the Tennessee Titans defense. No matter who has been coaching him, who he has gone against, who has played beside him, or how little he had to play for he was a star on this defensive line who has gone under the radar.

That is a story for another time. The point is, Jurrell Casey has been a very good player on this defense for a long time. The difference is, now Dick LeBeau is moving him around the offensive line to find mismatches for him.

I’m sure by now you have heard that Joel Bitonio is out for the Cleveland Browns. That is terrible for them, but they brought in Jonathan Cooper who was a highly touted guard taken in the top 10 a few years back.

The only issue is, when they claimed him off of waivers, they may not have wanted him to back up Bitonio’s spot (LG), they may have wanted to replace Alvin Bailey at right guard.

I haven’t dug into the tape, but PFF seems to have an awfully low opinion of Bailey right now. He was the worst right guard in the week last week. They said:

“Bailey surrendered three tackles in the run game and two hurries in the pass game. He was beaten often by a Patriots’ line that shut down the Browns’ run game—and offense in general.”

Taking a deeper dive into PFF’s stats on him, he is the 67th ranked guard out of 69 possible contenders. That is not an ideal situation for the Cleveland Browns.

With Jurrell Casey having a dominant performance against a banged up Miami Dolphins, can he come back and attack another injured offensive line this week? I would put my money on yes, and if I am right it will be tough for the Cleveland Browns to really do anything.
