For a few years now, Eddie George and Cory Curtis have been the team calling the Tennessee Titans preseason games. Well, apparently that is no longer the case.

NFL Network’s own Charles Davis and Dan Hellie are set to be the new duo in the broadcast booth.
While I don’t want to knock an all-time great like Eddie George, there were times where it seemed clear that he wasn’t 100% familiar with all the Titans new faces. Some of that is rightfully so because as the prototypical “color commentator” his job was less about play-by-play and more about giving anecdotal opinions and examples.
So while George did a nice job relating how the running backs should be running and hitting the holes, there were some gaps in the depth of his knowledge that are really on display in the 4th quarter of a preseason game.

FanSided
Charles Davis should be a familiar name for Tennessee Volunteers fans. Not only did he play football at the University of Tennessee and transition that into a great career in NFL media, but he has also been the clear voice of the Vols across the national media landscape.
It was Davis who kept optimism high during this year’s draft when some ribbed him about no Tennessee Vols being selected, often citing how the team has progressed and how they will have some players next year that could have come out and been drafted highly this year.
It is that draft knowledge that could come in handy when he is watching Joey Bosa take reps vs Jack Conklin in the preseason week one, or when he makes a comment about Kalan Reed making a good play on an errant pass.
His teammate, Dan Hellie will be an excellent addition considering he has been an anchor at the NFL Network for years now and has the pacing and energy level to keep people interested while they are watching people at the bottom of the roster struggle to find a way to support their families.

As much as I hate to see the last broadcast team go, fans should be optimistic that this may be a step for standout players to show national broadcasters just how fun the Titans can be. Who knows, maybe if the Titans show out in the preseason some of that buzz will carry over into the regular season and some of their big plays will actually be on those top-10 lists.
