Bubble players Titans should watch
By Will Lomas
The Tennessee Titans have a few good rewards from being so bad last season. They got the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft which they transitioned into their guy Jack Conklin, two extra second round picks and a 1st round pick in 2017.

The other big reward that they got that Jon Robinson has been very vocal about, is the top position on the waiver wire in free agency. He has spoken about it numerous times and said that he thinks that the waiver wire is a great place to add talent to secure depth and potential starters on your roster from teams with logjams at certain positions.
Spotrac has been a great site for contract info for years and they recently posted an article breaking down the contract ramifications of releasing or trading some bubble players.

Here are some players off that list that I would watch, with Spotrac’s comments on them:
[Note: Some of these players are not subject to the waiver wire, but the Titans should still be watching them.]
Knile Davis RB/KR:
SR: “Extensions for Spencer Ware & Charcandrick West might have sealed Davis’ fate in KC. With minimal cap space, the $700k saved will help.”
Me: He can be what the Titans think Dexter McCluster is.
Jace Amaro TE:
SR: “Amaro hasn’t found his place as a traditional TE and might be asked to change roles in 2016 under the new regime”
Me: He could be a great replacement for Stevens and/or Delanie Walker long term, and he is a cheap option to boost depth. The Titans don’t need a starting tight end, but Jon Robinson is smart and can see the return on investment down the road here.
Alterraun Verner CB:
SR: “Verner was benched early on in 2015, and the Bucs selection of Vernon Hargreaves doesn’t make his role any more secure heading into the new year.”
Me: I have always liked Verner and he is a fit in an aggressive defense. The Titans are back to that style of play, and he should be a nice cheap option.

Daryl Washington ILB:
SR: “He’s been suspended since Dec. 2013, and reinstatement doesn’t seem likely. It will simply be a formality should the Cardinals release him.”
Me: He was one of, if not the most dynamic 3-4 ILBs in the NFL when he last played, in his last full season he ended up with 9 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and an interception which is great. Even if it takes him a few games to get back to speed, he could be a great sub-package ILB that gives the Titans a play maker behind the starters of Avery Williamson and Wesley Woodyard.
