Preseason should be very fun for the Tennessee Titans
By Will Lomas
Let’s face it, most preseason games are boring. A lot of players who really don’t have a chance to make the team playing 75% or more of the game.

However, the Tennessee Titans added 10 new rookies this year all of which could be very fun players to watch in the preseason games.
Now, before you think this is some puff piece about the preseason games, take a read. There are reasons you should genuinely excited this year, the same reasons that make me excited.
With that in mind, let’s break down some of those story lines.

The Bash Brothers
Jack Conklin and Sebastian Tretola were two of the most physical players in the 2016 NFL Draft at any position, and could be tops at offensive line. Jack Conklin will be a starter on this team in 2016, and there is a good chance that Tretola will be too.
However, unlike other positions offensive linemen are often left on the field longer in preseason games to be tested against different pass rushers and with different combination.
With the long term availability at right guard up for grabs, there is a chance that the potential starting left guard (Tretola) could slide over to right guard at some point in the preseason allowing Jeremiah Poutasi to play on the left side where he played in college.
So your offensive line could look like this:
LT: Taylor Lewan 6’7″ 309 lb.
LG: Jeremiah Poutasi 6’5″ 335 lb.
C: Ben Jones 6’3″ 308 lb.
RG: Sebastian Tretola 6’4″ 317 lb.
RT: Jack Conklin 6’6″ 325 lb.
That is a huge offensive line, they average just under 6’5″ and 319 lb. Massive. And they would be blocking for…
Derrick Henry’s NFL debut
If he had gone to any other team in the NFL, Henry may have gotten 10-20 useless carries in the preseason. Now, there is a real chance that we see a pretty large amount of carries for Henry in the preseason.
Henry’s running style could be determined early in his career if he sets the tone in the preseason and gets used to hitting NFL players on a regular basis then he could get over that rookie hurdle sooner rather than later.

Emergence of a #3 receiver
I like Kendall Wright, but like I said with Chance Warmack his long term future is in question. A better fit for this offense (and for Marcus Mariota in general) may be Tajae Sharpe the Titans 5th round pick this year.
Sharpe fits the physical profile at 6’2″ and he is an excellent and consistent route runner, which have been some of Wright’s issues. While he doesn’t have the explosion of Wright, he never tries to do too much and always catches the ball, which is exactly what I imagine Mike Mularkey wants from a third receiver in this offense.
He was highly productive in college even against the big guys, but he has never had someone like Mariota throwing to him. Imagine what sort of potential he could have with a hyper accurate QB who knows how to go through reads and who scares defenses with his athleticism.
