2016 NFL Draft impact starters left: offense
By Will Lomas
Day 1 of the 2016 NFL Draft has come and gone and it didn’t disappoint. Not only have the Tennessee Titans solidified their offensive line, but the board fell so that there are quite a few impact starters left on the board for Day 2.
More from Titans Draft
- Tennessee Titans suspiciously quiet about major draft need
- 3 needs that are being overblown by Tennessee Titans fans
- Tennessee Titans must be careful trading down in the 2023 NFL Draft
- Tennessee Titans should only spend their premium draft picks on offense
- Tennessee Titans connections may be crucial for a draft day trade
Now, when I say impact starters what I mean is a player who can come in and start from day one on this team. Not only that, but they should face a minimal learning curve and can come in and be someone who jumps off the screen.
Guys like this (meaning their play not where they were drafted) currently on the roster are people like Jason McCourty, Dorial Green-Beckham, Kendall Wright, etc. Guys who can make you say wow at times in their rookie years, and who could develop into more.
So it makes sense that I will only include guys that will start on this team meaning that quarterback and tight end probably won’t make an appearance.

Alright so here is the position by position breakdown:
Guards/Centers:
Cody Whitehair, Kansas State
-Very athletic player who looks versatile on film, but doesn’t stand out at his college position of OT.
Nick Martin, Notre Dame
-If there is a better center/guard prospect in this draft than Ryan Kelly, it is Martin.
Running backs:
Derrick Henry, Alabama
-A bull that runs through contact well after he passes the line of scrimmage, but if you make him think/stop he become NFL Trent Richardson.
Kenneth Dixon, Louisiana Tech
-The complete opposite of Henry, a dynamic runner that glides and is already a polished weapon in the passing game.
Wide Receivers:
Michael Thomas, Ohio State
-A 6’2″, smooth route runner who never had the chance to truly shine on a stacked Ohio State team.
Braxton Miller, Ohio State
-A converted quarterback who is dyanmic with the ball in his hand, but unproven.
Tyler Boyd, Pitt
-Another great route runner, but his downfall is he played in a terrible offense. How good can he be with a good QB?
