Day 1 of the 2016 NFL Draft has come and gone and it didn’t disappoint. Not only have the Tennessee Titans solidified their offensive line, but the board fell so that there are quite a few impact starters left on the board for Day 2.
More from Titans Draft
- Tennessee Titans suspiciously quiet about major draft need
- 3 needs that are being overblown by Tennessee Titans fans
- Tennessee Titans must be careful trading down in the 2023 NFL Draft
- Tennessee Titans should only spend their premium draft picks on offense
- Tennessee Titans connections may be crucial for a draft day trade
Now, when I say impact starters what I mean is a player who can come in and start from day one on this team. Not only that, but they should face a minimal learning curve and can come in and be someone who jumps off the screen.
Guys like this (meaning their play not where they were drafted) currently on the roster are people like Jason McCourty, Dorial Green-Beckham, Kendall Wright, etc. Guys who can make you say wow at times in their rookie years, and who could develop into more.

Alright so here is the position by position breakdown:
Defensive line
Andrew Billings, Baylor
-Outstanding TFL production despite his size, has everything you want and a plus motor.
Jarran Reed, Alabama
-Your classic two-gapping nose tackle who lacks ideal size but has a nice punch.
A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama
-Has drawn comparisons to Michael Brockers, can fill lanes in a 3-4 or 4-3 and has great moments in college.
Chris Jones, Mississippi State
-Your ideal 5-tech in the NFL who has flashes of greatness, wins with power but isn’t consistent.
Austin Johnson, Penn State
-A non-SEC version of Jarran Reed essentially.
EDGE
Noah Spence, EKU
-Arguably the best edge rusher in the draft and kills offensive tackles with speed, off the field concerns.
Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State
-Great tools, production and athleticism, doesn’t jump off the screen.
Kamalei Correa, Boise State
-Strong-side 3-4 OLB who has explosive potential with his burst, limited to 3-4.
Linebacker
Myles Jack, UCLA
-Freak athlete on tape who could be great, but may not be able to do anything that made him good due to injury.
Jaylon Smith, Notre Dame
-Again, great player who has huge medical concerns.
Reggie Ragland, Alabama
-Rumors of a heart issue flagged at the combine, but rangy enough and is a leader on the defense in production and action.

Cornerback
Mackensie Alexander, Clemson
-Great corner who has all the attitude you want, has flags for a lack of production in college.
Xavien Howard, Baylor
-Physical, very good in coverage and has the size you want, Baylor players have issues off the field.
Kendall Fuller, Virginia Tech
-Was potentially the best cornerback in this class but got injured early this year.
Safety
Vonn Bell, Ohio State
-The safety with the most range in this class, but isn’t an athlete athlete.
Darian Thompson, Boise State
-Not going to wow you at the combine, but his game film is very good. Does everything.
Those are the guys that look good to me right now and who could all come in and probably make an impact on this team immediately. If the Titans pick someone else I will explain why they were or weren’t on this list in more detail at the time.
