Draft day is nearly here and it wouldn’t be draft week without a ton of projections and guesses. That is why I decided to run a scenario in this 2016 NFL Mock Draft.

More from Titans Draft

Something that hasn’t been discussed enough is this article from Paul Kuharsky from early this month. It discusses how fans should take pre-draft visits pretty seriously this year with Jon Robinson as the new GM.

Here is the highlight of that article:

“Under Robinson, these visits should be more telling.

Robinson said the team could spend late-round picks on guys they have not hosted, but that it’s not very likely for the more premium picks.

‘Usually it’s guys that you have spent time with,’ he said of who gets picked. ‘You want to make sure you get to know the guy, because you’re going to work with him, coaches are going to work with him on a daily basis. Seventh-round, sixth-round or if all the scouting information you’ve accumulated and you’re just rock solid and you know that you know, if it’s a first- or second-day pick, then maybe you don’t have them in.'”

So with that, there is a great list of the Tennessee Titans visitors tweeted by Tom Gower that you can go check out. Using that list and Fanspeak’s draft simulator, I made this 2016 NFL Mock Draft.

1st round: Jack Conklin OT, Michigan State

We have seen this pick over and over. Prototype right tackle who has some issues with his feet in pass protection, but who has some great film against high end players like Joey Bosa and DeForest Buckner.

  • 2nd round: Kamalei Correa EDGE, Boise State

There was a run of edge rushers going on, and the Titans have spent extensive time looking at second round pass rushers. Emmanuel Ogbah and Jonathan Bullard are two other names they have had visits with, but Correa is the best fit in this system in my opinion.

2nd round: Vonn Bell S, Ohio State

One of the better free safeties in this draft, he wouldn’t be asked to do too much as a starter. With Da’Norris Searcy moving to strong safety, the Titans could upgrade two positions here in a defense that should be much more aggressive with their blitzes this year.

2nd round: Kenny Clark NT, UCLA

Clark is a top-20 player on some boards, but this class is incredibly deep at defensive line and the teams picking in this range already took their defensive linemen in round one when the value was there. That means that a pass rushing nose tackle who is capable of caving the pocket AND disrupting the run game could fall into the perfect scheme in Tennessee.

3rd round: Adolphus Washington 5-tech, Ohio State

I am a lot higher on Washington than most, and his play on the field is worth top-40 consideration. However, off the field issues have pushed him down boards despite his ability to play all over the defensive line.

3rd round: Leonte Carroo WR, Rutgers

I am not a huge Carroo guy, but with a lot of other holes plugged the Titans went BPA here and Carroo came out on top. He is someone who can compete with Rishard Matthews and DGB to be one of the outside receivers on this team, and what he lacks in burst he makes up for with his ability to go up and make some tough catches.

5th round: Antonio Morrison LB, Florida

Morrison is not someone who blows you away in the weight room or on the track, but put on the tape and you see a different player. Morrison is relentless and has come back from some tough injuries before, but he checks every box that Jon Robinson is looking for. He is a physical player who does all the little things right and if he was 6’4″ and ran a 4.6 40-yard dash (instead of being 6’1″ and running a 5.1) he would be a first round pick. However, Robinson has experience taking Florida linebacker who don’t blow you away with their physical traits but turn out great i.e. Brandon Spikes.

6th round pick: Keenan Reynolds RB/WR, Navy

Another player who fits Jon Robinson perfectly. He is versatile and is trying everything he can to get into the NFL, not because he wants money or fame but because he loves football. He is a college QB with athletcism that could be used in a number of ways and again he could remind Robinson of another player he drafted, Julian Edelman.

7th round pick: Caleb Benenoch OL, UCLA

I honestly don’t know what to say about Benenoch because I haven’t ever watched him play. However the Titans are very interested in him according to rumors and if he is still on the board here why not take him. He is a pretty good size and speed guy, and he has 31 career starts at right tackle and 4 at right guard. Everything I read says he is a project with talent and power, so why not bring him in and see if you can develop him into a swing tackle or a guard with some coaching.
