Trading with Kansas City is a possibility for Tennessee Titans
By Will Lomas
The Tennessee Titans are the hot topic in the NFL right now in terms of trade talks. The 2016 NFL Draft hinges on what they are willing to get for the first pick if they do decide to trade it.

However, after re-reading an article from Ian Wharton of Bleacher Report I wonder if the Kansas City Chiefs could be a partner for the Titans to trade up in the draft. Let’s examine what could happen if the Tennessee Titans did trade down and then traded back up into the 1st round.
Here is Wharton describing what it would take for the Chiefs to move down and take a guard at the top of the 2nd round:
“Trading out of the first round to get a guard would be the best way to add value and a starter. Teams with early second-round picks may offer an early fourth-round pick or a 2017 sweetener to accomplish the trade. Dropping down and taking the player you’d likely have taken anyway is what the best franchises in the league do.”

Using the handy dandy Fanspeak draft simulator, let’s look at what a scenario like this could look like.
Trade #1
Baltimore Ravens receive: 1st overall pick
Tennessee Titans receive: 6th, 36th, 70th, and 104th overall picks (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds)
6th overall: Ronnie Stanley OT, Notre Dame
The Tennessee Titans need a right tackle and while Taylor Lewan could definitely play right tackle if they took Laremy Tunsil, leaving Lewan at left and putting Stanley at right tackle makes a lot of sense too. Stanley is very athletic and would be the top tackle in any other draft.
2nd trade:
Tennessee Titans receive: 28th overall pick
Kansas City Chiefs receive: 36th overall pick (from Baltimore) and 104th pick (from Baltimore)

28th overall pick: Noah Spence EDGE, Eastern Kentucky
So the Tennessee Titans turn free 2nd and 4th round picks into Noah Spence, one of, if not the best pass rusher in this draft. He has great speed off the edge and would give the Titans a change pace at the outside linebacker position. Josh Doctson was also considered here, but with three receivers left on the board and the Titans picking again in five picks I took the chance at played the numbers.
For what it is worth they would have landed Josh Doctson WR, TCU with the 33rd pick.
