Cris Collinsworth projects big draft move from Tennessee Titans
By Will Lomas
‘Tis the season for 2016 NFL mock drafts, and Cris Collinsworth has taken a crack at one for Pro Football Focus.

In that mock draft he makes an interesting move where he projects the Tennessee Titans trading around in the first round. Here is his projection (that only extends to the first round so I will extrapolate what the terms for the Titans are based on this chart):
The L.A. Rams receive:
-The 1st overall pick (QB, Carson Wentz)
The Tennessee Titans receive:
-The 15th overall pick (WR, Josh Doctson)
-The 43rd overall pick
-The 45th overall pick
-2017 2nd round pick
That is more than fair compensation based on that chart I just linked, and the Titans actually have to swallow some “value” to make this deal happen. However, this is the perfect deal for the Tennessee Titans.

This move would give the Titans three 2nd round picks (33, 43, 45) in the 2016 NFL Draft. With wide receiver addressed, the draft could play out like this:
33rd: Offensive tackles, Jack Conklin, Michigan State/Taylor Decker, Ohio State/Jason Spriggs, Indiana
43rd: Vonn Bell S, Ohio state/Darian Thompson S, Boise State
45th: Artie Burns CB, Miami/Kendall Fuller CB, VT
On top of that haul, they also get that first round pick and Josh Doctson, and here is what Collinsworth had to say about Doctson and the Titans (a player I really like):
“Quarterback Marcus Mariota is poised to make a big jump in the second year of his NFL career, and he deserves a physical, playmaking receiver. Mike Mularkey knows his future is directly related to Mariota’s growth at QB. Tight ends will always be a big part of this offense, but for Delanie Walker to get open, somebody has to loosen the coverage, and Doctson is the man for the job. Doctson has a knack for making plays on the ball. So much of the NFL is now about contested catches, and Doctson is so good at finding and attacking the ball. He is a well-coached technician that comes back hard to the ball, and his adjustments to poorly thrown balls are really impressive. Doctson is very difficult to tackle in the open field and often makes the tacklers look silly. He’s fast, but not a blazer. Whether he is fast enough for the Titans (assuming my trade happens) will be the biggest question.”

So the Titans solve their four biggest positions of need going into this draft, and still have a premium pick in the third round to either make a move back into the bottom of the second round, to trade for the future or to just take the best available player.
This is a deal that works out for all parties, and it makes this team a lot better.
