How many draft trades has Jon Robinson made in the past?

The Tennessee Titans new GM has been very active in past NFL Drafts. During his time with the New England Patriots he was a part of a franchise that was known for moving around on draft day. However he also made moves in Tampa Bay, though since he wasn’t there as long it sometimes goes unnoticed.

So, just how active has he been and how will that shape his time with the Tennessee Titans? As always, I will use the 2008-2015 NFL Drafts as the sample size because that is when he became a major voice in both organizations.

2008 NFL Draft: 2 trades

-Patriots move down trading their 1st and 5th round pick, for the New Orleans Saints 1st and 3rd round pick. Got MLB Jerod Mayo (All-Pro)

-Traded their 5th and 7th to go up and get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers higher 5th round pick. They drafted Matt Slater (Pro Bowler)

2009 NFL Draft: 9 trades

-Traded their 1st round pick for the Baltimore Ravens 1st and 5th round picks.

-Traded that 1st round pick and a 5th round pick to the Green Bay Packers for their 2nd round pick and two 3rd round picks,

-Not a draft day trade, but the Patriots traded their backup QB (Matt Cassel) and Mike Vrabel for the 34th pick in the draft, which is a heck of a deal for Robinson.

-New England traded up with the Oakland Raiders giving up their 2nd, 4th and 6th.

-San Diego traded New England their 2nd round pick and 5th round pick to get the Patriots 3rd round pick.

-New England traded their 3rd round pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars 2010 2nd round selection and their 2009 7th round selection where they drafted Julian Edelman.

    -Patriots traded their two 5th round picks for Baltimore’s 4th round and 6th round picks.

    -Traded their 5th round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Greg Lewis (WR) and a 2010 7th round pick

    2010 NFL Draft: 8 trades

    -Traded a 1st round pick for Denver’s 1st and a 4th round pick.

    -Traded Denver’s 1st round pick and NE’s 4th, for Dallas’s 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick. They turned that pick into Devin McCourty (All-Pro).

    -Oakland traded their 2nd round pick for the 2nd round pick NE had acquired from Jacksonville the year before and for NEs 6th round pick. They turned this pick into Rob Gronkowski (Possibly the best tight end ever).

    -New England traded the 2nd round pick they got from the Titans in 2009 for Arizona’s 2nd round and 3rd round picks.

    -Traded Arizona’s 2nd round pick for the Houston Texans 2nd round pick and a 5th round pick. They turned that into Brandon Spikes, MLB and Zoltan Mesko, punter.

    -Patriots trade their 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick for Derrick Burgess from the Oakland Raiders. Burgess stayed a year as a rotational pass rusher getting 5 sacks.

    -New England traded Arizona’s 3rd round pick to the Carolina Panthers for their 2011 2nd round pick.

    -Traded their 5th round pick the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for tight end Alex Smith.

    2011 NFL Draft: 10 trades

    -Traded Richard Seymour for the Oakland Raider’s first round pick during the season.

    -Traded their 1st round pick to the New Orleans Saints for their 2012 1st round pick and their 2011 2nd round selection.

    -Traded their 2nd round pick to the Houston Texans for their 3rd and 5th round pick.

    -Traded Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings for their 3rd and 7th round picks during the season.

    -Traded their 3rd round pick and a 4th round pick for Oakland’s 2nd round pick in 2012 and a 2011 7th round pick.

    -New England traded up to get Denver’s 4th round pick for their 6th and Laurence Maroney.

    -They traded Denver’s 4th round pick to Seattle for Deion Branch.

    -Traded tight end David Thomas for New Orleans 6th round pick.

    -Traded 6th round pick for Philadelphia “just for fun”.

    -Traded 7th round pick to the Atlanta Falcons for OL Quinn Ojinnaka

    2012 NFL Draft: 8 trades

    -New England trades their 1st from New Orleans, a 2nd and 3rd round picks for the Cincinnati Bengals 1st round pick.

    -Denver traded their 1st for the Patriots 1st and 4th round picks.

    -Oakland traded their 2nd and 7th round picks for the New England Patriots 3rd and 4th round picks.

    -New England trades their 2nd round pick for Green Bay’s 3rd and 5th round picks.

    -New England traded their 5th round pick for Green Bay’s 6th round pick and two 7th round picks.

    -Traded another 5th round pick to Cincinnati for a 2013 6th round pick and Chad Johnson.

    -Traded a 6th round pick for linebacker Tracy White and a 7th round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles.

    -Traded their 7th round pick for Kansas City safety Jarrad Page.

    -Traded Jeremy Zuttah for the Baltimore Ravens 5th round pick.

    -Gave Jonathan Casillas and a 6th round pick for New England’s 5th round pick.

    -Traded that pick for the Detriot Lion’s DE George Johnson and their 7th round pick.

    To sum up:

    In 8 years Jon Robinson has been a key cog in organizations who have made 52 total trades, which is 6.5 trades per year. That should make for some pretty interesting and great draft day action especially with the Titans having 8 picks at or near the top in every round.
