The Tennessee Titans aren’t a great team, but they aren’t folding up shop. This team, led by the rookie leader Marcus Mariota is not ready to quit and there are things that Titans fans should look at going forward.

Brian Orakpo’s underrated November
John Glennon tweeted about practice today, and had several different interesting tweets. One of my favorite was the little known stat about Brian Orakpo:
“Orakpo has 5 sacks in November are most he’s ever had in one month. He trails on JJ Watt (5.5) this month.”
That is insane because there is still a week left in this month and he is behind one of the best defensive players in the last decade at least. Orakpo has been a great signing this year, and for all the people that bemoan Michael Griffin and Ruston Webster, it is that combination that brought that monster into Nashville which turned this team from a pedestrian pass rush to the best in the league.

Marcus Mariota is great part 752
So, it is no secret that I am a huge fan of Mariota, and why shouldn’t I be? He has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league in his short time in the NFL and he has been that way on a team with really no receivers.
As far as rookies go, Glennon again had a great tweet to put his accuracy in perspective.
“Mariota has 65.3 percent completion percentage. Top two NFL rookies all time: Roethlisberger (66.4) and RG3 (65.7).”
On a team where Justin Hunter, Harry Douglas and Anthony Fasano have all had multiple drops this year, Mariota has been exceptional at not letting that mess up his rhythm.
Just one of the reasons Marcus Mariota is great.
This number would destroy Vince Young’s rookie record of 51.5% in 2006.
Offensive line
Quintin Spain continues to take snaps at left guard while Andy Gallik took some snaps at center today. With how the season has gone so far, I wouldn’t be shocked if both of the Titans drafted rookie offensive linemen were benched.
I hate to say that because coming out of the draft both looked positive. Gallik was great with his hands and technique, while Jeremiah Poutasi had the functional strength to man handled defensive linemen.

Whether or not there is any future for these two with the Titans has yet to be seen, but the fact that both could be sitting while and UDFA guard is taking reps over both at LG speaks volumes. Maybe a new coach can help get the talent out of the draft picks, and if so this offensive line could be quietly deep next year.
Odds and Ends
-Kendall Wright returned to practice which could be big for this offense. If Wright can get some things going on the outside, maybe this passing attack won’t be so one dimensional.
-Al Woods looks like he is out at least another week as he heals up.
-Blidi Wreh-Wilson looks like he will be able to play next week which is important because the Titans will need all hands on deck facing Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper.
-Da’Norris Searcy also looks like he will play after quietly getting banged up against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
-No real word about Derrick Morgan and if he will be back to 100% for the matchup against the Oakland Raiders, but he isn’t being held out of practice.
