More reckless trade speculation for Tennessee Titans
By Will Lomas
I watched the game last night and despite the win, the Baltimore Ravens looked terrible. Granted, a Pittsburgh Steelers team led by Michael Vick was worse, but just by a very slim margin. After watching that game drag on for what seemed like eight quarters, I saw the list of Ravens wide receivers.
More from Titans Draft
- Tennessee Titans suspiciously quiet about major draft need
- 3 needs that are being overblown by Tennessee Titans fans
- Tennessee Titans must be careful trading down in the 2023 NFL Draft
- Tennessee Titans should only spend their premium draft picks on offense
- Tennessee Titans connections may be crucial for a draft day trade
It featured such impressive wide outs as Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown and of course, Darren Waller. Not only did these guys you didn’t know were wide receivers play, but they played 76% of the wide receiver snaps last night. While I am not a “Joe Flacco is elite” kind of guy, I know that he thrived with a deep threat like Torrey Smith. Give Flacco a guy with a huge frame and speed to burn and he can make something happen on some nine routes, whether they are consistent catchers or not.
Wait a second…fast…big…inconsistent…could this be the perfect team for Justin Hunter to make a splash on?
That’s right, this is a great fit for Hunter and despite not proving that he can win inside consistently, he has shown that he can beat people deep on an every down basis. Flacco is probably the best compliment for him in the NFL in terms of their physical abilities matching up.

I know you are saying, but the Titans only have a small number of receivers any way, how can they make this kind of trade? Well, that is easily rectified.
First of all the Tennessee Titans like Tre McBride and bringing him up on a bye week makes a ton of sense in terms of adjusting him to game speed during the week. He can get into a rhythm while the Titans slowly work him into a bigger role.
Secondly, f they don’t feel comfortable with that, they could bring back Hakeem Nicks. While Nicks wasn’t great, he and Marcus Mariota had a certain chemistry and he has a lot of talent still left in the tank.
Finally, don’t forget that Dorial Green-Beckham has looked great so far this season and it may be time to make him a bigger focal point of the offense. Giving him more reps will make this team better no matter what, and if you can gain a draft pick or a player in that deal then more power to you.
Do I think this will happen? No, but I think it makes a lot of sense on paper, and for a player who is great at winning deep this would also help his career. A win-win-win.
