Tennessee Titans power rankings around the league Week 3
By Will Lomas
The Tennessee Titans had a rough loss again this week, but this time it was rough because the Titans were so close to a franchise turning point. With Marcus Mariota looking great and the defense showing up in spots, I think the arrow is pointing up on this team both short and long term. Let’s find out if those around the nation agree.

“Oh man, was that loss a heartbreaker. Significant sequence: the three-and-out following the Donte Moncrief touchdown. That’s what really did Ken Whisenhunt’s club in — three incomplete passes by Marcus Mariota. Significant silver lining: Even with the loss, Tennessee is right there with everyone else in the division at 1-2. The AFC South, everyone … ”

I can see why looking back knowing the score you would be looking for a reason to blame the loss on someone, but there are 21 players on that team that should have come up before Mariota. Without him the team isn’t even in the game as they have shown the past four years.
He fails to mention that Mariota led the team on a perfect 2-minute drill drive and only failed to convert because of a DPI followed by a failed run behind Karl Klug.

“The fourth-quarter collapse will be tough to overcome. The Colts game is one that could have set them up to take the next step.”
-Pete Prisco
I can see why you moved them down, but I think he is looking a little bit too much at the recent record. Prisco moved the Texans up SEVEN SPOTS because of a pitiful win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who missed 3 field goals and the Texans still only won by 10 points. This team deserves to be in this range, I just think that he is moving up some teams for the wrong reason.

“The Titans have lost two straight after an impressive opener, but Marcus Mariota has become the third player in the Super Bowl era with multiple TD passes in his first three games.”
-ESPN
Look, this is going to be the way this team goes this year. If you can protect Mariota he can get you into the 30+ point range, at that point it is just up to the defense and special teams to make sure the opposition doesn’t also get into that range.
