Tuesday Tennessee Titans training camp notes
By Will Lomas
For some reason there has been very little information out of the Tennessee Titans training camp today. The practice started this morning around 9:30 and there haven’t been any big recaps other than a note or two about Marcus Mariota.

I am going to show you what I have seen and heard about today’s quiet practice.
An official video shed a little light:
-It was a shorter and more efficient practice according to Jim Wyatt.
-UDFA Cody Riggs got a chance to get some nice reps with the first team defense with Jason McCourty taking a day off and Blidi Wreh-Wilson slowed with an ankle injury. According to Wyatt he believes that Riggs is a playmaker that will get a lot of attention this preseason.
-Marqueston Huff has been an under the radar playmaker so far at camp, knocking out multiple balls during running period. With Huff, Josh Aubry and Daimion Stafford all scheduled to see a lot of reps this preseason, there should be a lot of fun plays in the third and fourth quarters of these preseason games for the Tennessee Titans.

-0 interceptions in 174 after today’s 10-14 performance from Marcus Mariota. The rookie QB is reportedly ready to play and the team as a whole has a sense of excitement to see him go against another team.
The only other nugget of information is something you can read between the lines in a post practice tweet from Terry McCormick. The 247 Sports writer said that, “Ken Whisenhunt says Michael Griffin has good leadership skills and still has athletic ability to compete.”
That is an odd sentence to me. Out of context, it looks like someone was questioning Griffin’s ability on the field. As up and down as he has been, there hasn’t been much doubt this season that he would be a starter come Week 1.
My questions to all of that is, does he look alright in practice? Is Huff or another DB pushing for starting time at that position? Is he not adapting to the chances Dick LeBeau is making?
I’m not going to speculate on any of that, but with Griffin getting to be one of the more veteran players in the Tennessee Titans locker room, maybe this preseason means more than we think to the second string defensive backs because if one of them steps up, maybe they can take his job in 2016. If not, they may have to look to a deep safety class in the 2016 NFL Draft.
