The Tennessee Titans spent most of Thursday getting rookies signed, and have inked their new offensive backfield. The fate of Tom Brady and the whole “Deflat-Gate” issue has dominated not only NFL news for the past week and a half, but the the whole of sports and I’m sure fans of other teams like myself are probably tired of hearing it!
I have desiginated this issue of First Down And Tenn as Deflate Gate free!
Tennessee Titans, David Cobb agree to terms – Marc Sessler Around The NFL
"The team on Thursday announced that fifth-round running back David Cobb has agreed to terms after being selected with the No. 138 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. We don’t normally post on fifth-round signings, but Cobb might be in for major playing time. Around The NFL‘s Chris Wesseling listed the Minnesota product as a Week 1 lead back in our “Projected Starters” series, while NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt called Cobb “starter material, capable of being a 1,000-yard back.”"
Defending The Titans’ Selection of Jalston Fowler – Stoney Keeley PFSpot
"In the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft (108th overall), the Tennessee Titans selected Jalston Fowler, fullback from the University of Alabama. The head scratching ensued.Titans fans seem skeptical, if not outright denouncing the selection. Most analysts dejected the pick, claiming it was far too early in the draft to pick a fullback – a position that comes closer to dying out with each passing season."
Bob Stoops: Titans’ Dorial Green-Beckham has grown up – Jom Wyatt The Tennessean
"Bob Stoops, Green-Beckham’s coach last season at Oklahoma, predicts the Titans will like what they get from the talented receiver with a troubled past.“A lot of times, through different circumstances, young people learn from mistakes, and I felt like he did,” Stoops said. “There’s a maturing process young people go through, and I believe Dorial has grown. Dorial has so much going for him. I think he is going to have a super career in the NFL. I hope it works out that way, and I believe it will. I really do.”"
ESPN fantasy crew ranks Marcus Mariota ahead of Andy Dalton, RG III – Paul Kuharsky ESPN
"As the Tennessee Titans try to piece things together to climb back to respectability from 2-14, they need better skill players who produce more, more often. It’s May, and it’s fantasy football. But ESPN’s Top 300 rankings provide an accurate reflection of how far they have to go in this department.Among quarterbacks, Mariota is just behind Kansas City’s Alex Smith (244th) and just ahead of Andy Dalton (253rd) and Robert Griffin III (261st)."
Projecting the Titans’ Running Back Depth Chart – Terry Lambert PFSpot
"Ruston Webster had a clear plan coming into the NFL Draft. That plan was to add offense in any way possible. Webster was able to add a potential franchise quarterback, big time wide receiver, along with several power players to assist in the run game.Jeremiah Poutasi, Jalston Fowler, David Cobb and even undrafted rookies like Quinton Spain and Josue Matias are going to change the dynamic of the offense in Nashville. But one question remains — who is going to be getting the carries in this new look offense? Here is my best guess at the depth chart to start the season."
