Tennessee Titans: First Down And Tenn 5/5 Edition

The Tennessee Titans are for the most part, done accumulating players through free agency and the 2015 NFL Draft and the roster is pretty much set for training camp. There may be a free agency move yet, but now we can start turning our attention the preseason and that all-important Marcus Mariota/Jameis Winston match-up on September 13th. Wouldn’t it be fun to win that game?

Tennessee Titans: Will Marcus Mariota Start Week 1? – Robert Brewer NFL Spinzone

"Between Mariota and Mettenberger, I think Mettenberger is the more polished pocket passer at this point. However, Mariota’s exceptional mobility outside the pocket can really open up the playbook and may help to free up a mediocre receiving core. Also, the presence of a Mariota may have a positive impact on last year’s 26th ranked rushing offense in the NFL. When it comes to getting the most out of Tennessee’s available talent, I think Mariota’s upside will give him the advantage over Mettenberger."

Titans ready to put more power in their running game – Paul Kuharsky ESPN Titans Reporter

"Will the 2015 Tennessee Titans be more of a power running team?Three of their nine draft picks suggest they are working toward that.Third-round offensive linemanJeremiah Poutasi out of Utah is a powerful player who will start out with a chance to win the open right tackle spot.Fourth-round fullback Jalston Fowlercan lead a back through the line."

NFL Draft Musings: College systems contribute to lack of NFL QB prospects – Pete Prisco CBS Sports

"The game is meant to be played in the pocket, but the problem is that it’s harder and harder to find those guys. Even Marcus Mariota, who went second to the Tennessee Titans, is a projection because of the system he played in at Oregon. It is far from prototypical, making his evaluation that much tougher, which is why I think Tampa Bay went with Florida State’s Jameis Winston at No. 1. He is a pocket passer."

Mettenberger to ‘fight it out’ with Mariota, Lewan says – Jim Wyatt The Tennesseean

"The moment the Titans draftedMarcus Mariota, he became the favorite to be their starting quarterback this season.Coach Ken Whisenhunt even said that’s the plan.Zach Mettenberger, who started six games last season as a rookie, is conceding nothing, however. So said tackle Taylor Lewan, who is Mettenberger’s closest friend on the team.“That is the mentality that Zach has. He thinks of himself as a starter, and the guys in the locker room do also. I don’t think he is going to give it up easily,” Lewan, last year’s first-round pick, said Monday."

Titans Select Dorial Green-Beckham – Randy Sharber Tenn Truth

"Dorial Green-Beckham of course. Not sure what happened to the integrity and work ethic mantra the Titan brass hailed from the first to the second round. Green-Beckham has been in trouble….several times. He also has not played a down of football since 2013. If you wanted to take questionable character guys at this point in the draft, Randy Gregory was still there as was LSU Offensive Tackle La’el Collins. Both were first round talents, but have big time off of the field issues. At least they had played in 2014 at their respective Universities."
