A potential fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker in Ray Horton‘s defense? The Titans must add more linebacker depth as they only have seven linebackers. Patrick Bailey is almost exclusively a special teams player and Colin McCarthy can’t stay healthy. When McCarthy was playing last season, he was missing far too many tackles. Wimbley provides that and possibly enough as a serviceable short-term starter.

Kuharsky expects “Cut or takes pay cut.” To me, Cutting him doesn’t make much sense because the team saves $2.4 million of a $7.8 million cap charge. Plus, they’d have to use some of that $2.4 million on veteran depth. So unless this coaching staff really doesn’t like what they see from Wimbley, then I’d expect Tennessee to retain him with a possible pay cut.
