A $4.4 million cap charge for a tight end who finished last season with two receptions for five yards. Stevens has career totals that include 46 receptions for 577 yards. At age 29 (30 in September), Stevens provides value as a blocker. Only once has he had more than 11 receptions in a single season (2012).

Kuharsky expects “not cut.” Stevens is the type of player who, if anyone steps up during training camp, could dethrone him from a 53-man roster spot. Since Taylor Thompson hasn’t posed a threat to the No. 2 job, I’d expect Stevens to see out the third year of his four-year, $14.4-million contract that he signed in 2012.
