The previously winless Tennessee Titans executed the unthinkable on Sunday. They overturned a 13-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 26-20, winning their first game of the 2026 campaign in Week 6. A complimentary performance throughout the second half led to victory.
The defense and special teams made game-changing plays. Quarterback Cam Ward and Carnell Tate connected for their first career touchdown. Kicker Joey Slye was the definition of clutch.
It was a tale of two halves. We've identified 10 winners and four losers from the Titans' awesome comeback win. It took some massive individual performances.
10 winners and 4 losers from the Titans' comeback Week 6 victory
Winner: Jeffery Simmons, DT
Superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons continues to do everything he can. On the opening play of the third quarter, Simmons stripped Colts RB Jonathan Taylor and recovered the fumble he forced. Tennessee's offense could manage just a field goal despite taking over possession in Indianapolis territory, but it was the catalyst for the comeback. He was unblockable all afternoon, with two sacks.
Loser: Alontae Taylor, CB
It was announced 90 minutes before kickoff that starting cornerback Alontae Taylor was a healthy scratch. Joshua Williams started in his place. The Titans signed Taylor to a three-year, $58 million contract in the offseason, making him a top-15 paid cornerback in the NFL. Woof.
Winner: Carnell Tate, WR
When the Titans offense did anything positive throughout the second half, rookie wideout Carnell Tate was likely on the receiving end. The fourth overall pick finished with six catches for 70 yards and the offense's only touchdown. Tate was the offense.
Winner: Amani Hooker, S
The secondary got Amani Hooker back from a concussion that sidelined him for Week 5. It didn't take long for the veteran safety to make an impact. The Colts were in scoring position when Hooker intercepted a tipped Daniel Jones pass, showcasing some outstanding hand-eye coordination near the sideline to keep his feet in-bounds while ensuring he didn't juggle the ball. He had a team-high 13 tackles.
Loser: Brian Daboll, OC
Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll continues to oversee the worst offense in the NFL. His playcalling tendencies continue to be embarrassingly bad. Against a bottom-five Colts defense, the Titans mustered zero points and were outgained 232-65 throughout the first half. They punted three times on 4th-and-short. The Colts scored on both ensuing possessions. Defense, special teams, and kicker Joey Slye carried the second-half comeback. Daboll and the offense need to be better.
Winner: Tony Adams, S
Backup safety Tony Adams made his second consecutive start due to an injury to Kevin Winston Jr. The veteran defensive back made two good tackles short of the sticks on the Colts' opening two offensive plays. Later on the possession, Adams helped break up a second-and-long pass, and finished with 12 tackles.
Loser: Cam Ward, QB
Titans OC Brian Daboll continues to handcuff the offense with highly questionable playcalling tendencies, but Cam Ward isn't doing enough. When Daboll finally opened up the playbook on a two-minute drill near halftime, Ward's first pass was intercepted after he was under pressure and overshot his man. Later in the third quarter, he didn't see a wide-open Calvin Ridley for an easy TD, forcing the offense to settle for a field goal instead. He did hit Tate for a crucial touchdown, but finished 11-of-22 for 102 yards.
Winner: Cor'Dale Flott, CB
Titans starting cornerback Cor'Dale Flott recorded the defense's second turnover of the third quarter. The $45 million cover-man read Daniel Jones on the play and stepped in front of his ill-timed pass. The Titans offense gained possession and strung together a decent drive for a field goal, making it a one-possession game (13-6).
Loser: Truman Jones, DE
Special teams continues to hurt the Titans weekly. Chimere Dike's opening kickoff was called back to the 10-yard line due to a holding penalty on Truman Jones. In the third quarter, Jones was penalized for running into the punter, gifting the Colts offense a first down.
Winner: James Williams Sr. & Femi Oladejo, LBs, and Julius Chestnut (RB)
The game-changing moment occurred when the Titans' special teams unit blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown, turning a then-tie game into a 20-13 lead. Linebacker James Williams Sr. and running back Julius Chestnut combined on the blocked punt. It was Femi Oladejo who picked it up and returned it for a score. The Titans never relinquished the lead.
Winner: Jermaine Johnson II, DE
The Titans sacked Daniel Jones on six occasions. Veteran defensive end Jermaine Johnson II had two of them. One of Johnson's sacks was basically the game-winner on 3rd-and-long when the defense was protecting the lead late.
Winner: Joey Slye, K
Titans kicker Joey Slye was absolute perfection throughout the second half. The former Virginia Tech standout converted four kicks from 29, 56, 49, and 44 yards. Slye also made a 48-yard extra point after a post-touchdown penalty set the operation back.
