2017 NFL Mock Draft: Open for trades

How the Tennessee Titans could move around in the 2017 NFL Draft.

In a lot of 2017 NFL Mock Drafts, you will see me ignore the trade offers from Fanspeak’s mock draft simulator because I want to stick to what picks I know the Tennessee Titans have and not get my hopes up.

However, with Jon Robinson at the helm we know that trades are the lifeblood of his classes. So, it may actually be more realistic to include these trades rather than ignore them.

I am going to pick and choose the trades and I am not going to offer any trades, but I just wanted to have some fun and see what the Tennessee Titans could do with some more picks.

1st round, 5th overall pick: Myles Garrett EDGE, TAMU

OK. This won’t happen, but again this is a fun mock draft. The first four picks went: DeShaun Watson, Jonathan Allen, Mitch Trubisky, and Malik Hooker. If Garrett fell to the Tennessee Titans at 5 there is no way they would pass on him.

1st round, 18th overall pick: Marshon Lattimore CB, Ohio State

My CB1, I believe Lattimore is the complete package at cornerback. Not only that, but he is young and he is a “winner” both are things that GMs love to use as tiebreakers. Not that he needs any tiebreakers, for me he is the top CB in a great CB class.

    • 3rd round, 83rd overall pick: Curtis Samuel WR/RB/KR

    This is exactly the sort of player that the Tennessee Titans need to be thinking about at wide receiver. Samuel is an athletic player who lined up all over the place in college but who makes the most sense as a slot receiver in the NFL.

    Maybe the best comparison for him is a more athletic Ty Montgomery. He can take over the slot role and even come in and be a wrinkle in the offense in the backfield.

    Trade:

    Tennessee Titans get: 4th round pick, 5th round pick, 7th round pick, future 6th round pick.

    Houston Texans get: 100th overall pick (Julie’n Davenport OT, Bucknell)

    4th round, 123rd overall: Duke Riley LB, LSU

    I have talked about Riley before, but I love him to come in the NFL early and supplement a guy like Avery Williamson. He has great range and should be able to cover at the next level, the question is how will he deal with big NFL bodies getting on him?

    If he can come in and play behind someone like Avery Williamson getting in on passing downs then that is a problem already solved.

    4th round, 129th overall: Tyler Orlosky C, WVU

    This isn’t a need for the Tennessee Titans but he may be the best center in the draft and with a lot depending on their offensive line, the Titans need to make sure they have the best possible replacements.

    5th round, 165th overall: Carlos Henderson WR, LT

    Henderson may be the Tajae Sharpe of this draft in terms of hidden WRs. He is a smaller guy, but La. Tech uses him all over the field and he has progressively gotten more and more productive. Last year he had nearly 1,700 yards from scrimmage and 21 TDs.

    5th round,170th overall : Cole Hikutini TE, Louisville

    A nice solid TE2 who has plenty of time to develop.

    6th round, 215th overall: Xavier Woods S/CB, LT

    Someone who I think can really develop into a decent safety if given a chance to focus there. If not, he makes for a great gameday active player who can be a Swiss army knife and can play special teams.

    7th round, 239th overall: Greg Pyke OG, UGA

    A Jim Cobern guard prospect, the man who said that Quinton Spain would be a quality starter so I listen to him on players I don’t know.

    7th round, 246th overall: Al-Quadin Muhammad EDGE, Miami

    From a Jim Cobern guy to a Justis Mosqueda guy, or at least someone he has some nice things to say about.
