We’re still roughly two months out from the start of the preseason. The preseason is a time where teams have scrimmage games against one another, and start making the difficult decisions on who stays and who goes.

More from Titans News

Below will be a list of some notable players who could be cut from their teams. Some maybe from contract issues, failure to perform, or losing out to new competition. This could open the door to the Tennessee Titans picking them up via the waiver wire.

As the Titans have top priority, they are looking at these players more than any other team in the league as Jon Robinson and company try to make the best team possible before the season opener.

1. Cornerback Alterraun Verner- TB

Verner a former member of the Tennessee Titans, and a pro-bowler at that left the Titans to join the Tampa bay Buccaneers in 2013. The problem here is he clearly doesn’t fit Tampa’s cover 2 system, he was even benched half way through the 2015 season for lack of consistency.

  • 2. Offensive Lineman, Eugene Monroe- BAL

Monroe has failed to live up to his 5 year 37.5 million contract. The team drafted Ronnie Stantley number 6 overall in this years draft, so they expect him to start with that high of a draft status. When a reporter asked the coach after practice if Eugene could start at the Gaurd position he replied “did you see him practicing at the guard position?”. And that’s the reason he’s number two on this list and really should be number one. He is versital enough to play inside, or could be kicked out to play wide of Lewan or Cocklin went down. He would also be another veteran presence on a young line. Don’t get your hopes up to high for this one yet, Baltimore may try an renegotiate his deal.

    3. Line-backer Ahmad Brooks- SF

Brooks has been on the bubble for years now. He is highly athletic and a veteran presence, but he has some off feild concerns. He would be good to work in as a rotational player with Brian Orakpo, Derrick Morgan, and Kevin Dodd though.

    4. Guard, Allen Barbe- PHI

Barbe started all 16 games last year for philly, and is the assumed started, but philly added two more guards in this years draft. That brings a lot of competition to the position, and if Barbe gets beat out it’s likely he won’t be around as a back up.

    5. Offensive Tackle, Michael Schofeild- DEN

Schofeild was Denver’s right Tackle last, and the team won the Super Bowl! But Denver has added Russel Okung and Donald Stephenson to be the team’s starting tackles, theses moves have pushed Ty Sambrailo inside to guard and Schofeild back to a back up role.
