The Tennessee Titans were left thin at cornerback following their decision to trade Roger McCreary to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a draft-pick swap. General manager Mike Borgonzi then needed to add depth to the position. He did so by claiming cornerback Micah Robinson off the Green Bay Packers' practice squad.

The Packers drafted Robinson with the 237th selection in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Tulane standout then surprisingly made the Packers' initial 53-man roster. They were likely trying to hide him from the first wave of waiver claims after cut-down day, sorta like how the Titans did with Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson.

Robinson eventually landed on the Packers' practice squad. They could no longer protect him from being claimed by another organization. The Titans pounced on an opportunity to add another 2025 draft-pick to their roster, and it could pay major dividends for a rebuilding roster moving forward.

Titans add former Packers CB Micah Robinson to 53-man roster in shrewd addition

Robinson wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, but ran a 4.42 40-yard dash during the pre-draft process. The seventh-round rookie played extensively throughout the preseason, earning 97 snaps for the Packers. Pro Football Focus credited Robinson with allowing just one reception on two targets for 12 yards. He scored a coverage grade of 64.4, and overall defensive grade of 66.1.

It's unclear how the Titans will deploy their cornerbacks in the wake of the McCreary trade. Jalyn Armour-Davis and Darrell Baker Jr. are probably the boundary corners. Sixth-round rookie Marcus Harris is most likely to replace McCreary in the slot. Samuel Womack III and Robinson are also on the roster.

Baker Jr. has made appearances on Tennessee's injury report. If Harris has to replace Baker outside, it could create a position at nickel for Robinson. The rebuilding Titans should eventually reward Robinson to see if he maximizes an opportunity.
