Titans pinned as ideal landing spot for division rival WR (and it makes sense)

Even though the Tennessee Titans went with Robert Saleh as their new head coach, building the offense around Cam Ward has to be a huge priority if the Titans want to be immediately competitive in 2026. The hiring of Brian Daboll as their new offensive coordinator was a dynamite hire, now the Titans just need to bring in the playmakers.

According to Over The Cap, the Titans are scheduled to enter NFL free agency with over $100 million in cap space. They will have a huge opportunity to build up the team, as well as drafting for the future.

A quarterback can be only as good as the weapons on the outside for him. With Ward, he needs a true go-to wideout and the Titans may not even need to look far to give Ward an immediate playmaker who Tennessee has played against twice a year for the last couple of seasons.

Alec Pierce would be immediate upgrade for Titans' offense

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is a pending free agent and he had his breakout season with Daniel Jones, setting himself up for a nice payday somewhere. The Titans were listed as the best landing spot for Pierce according to Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus (PFF).

"With Brian Daboll serving as the Titans’ new offensive coordinator, the fit for Pierce is strong. Prior to being relieved of his duties as the Giants' head coach following Week 10, Daboll helped New York lead the NFL in percentage of passes targeted 20-plus yards downfield. Pierce is a threat to take the top off any defense, having tied for the third-most deep receptions (24) over the past two seasons." said Cameron.

Pierce eclipsed 1,000 yards this past season with the Colts and proved that he can be a great down-the-field weapon for any offense. Daboll is the kind of coach that likes to throw the ball down the field, as he showed with the Giants and with the Bills.

Tennessee has to be able to get opposing defenses on their heels and make them respect the passing attack. Pierce is just entering his prime and has the ability to become a potential No. 1 target for a team. If the Colts fail to re-sign him, why not Tennessee?

The Titans can afford to get Pierce, but it may take some convincing. Tennessee is starting from scratch and they have a ton of work to do. The good news is that they have proven coaches who have had lots of success in this league. Pierce should like the idea of that, as well as pairing up with Ward who is expected to take the next step in his sophomore season.
