The Tennessee Titans saw the flashes of greatness Cam Ward put together during his rookie season. However, his supporting cast was less than ideal and he was sacked 55 times. Up to this point in the offseason, the Titans have brought in a ton of defensive help in free agency, but they also managed to sign Wan’Dale Robinson for the offense.
More has to be done to support Ward, especially since the front office only has the next two seasons to decide whether or not he is the future of the franchise. With every ascending quarterback, it’s up to the front office to bring in a dynamic playmaker to maximize what they can do on a rookie deal before they get paid.
If the Titans wanted to make a splash on offense for Ward, one intriguing option is making a potential trade for Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts. Moe Moton from Bleacher Report listed the Titans as a landing spot for Pitts if the Falcons decide to trade him away. Moton reported that new general manager Ian Cunningham “said he'll listen to offers for the Pro Bowl tight end"
Titans must strongly consider trading for TE Kyle Pitts
"The Tennessee Titans allowed tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo to walk in free agency. Though Gunnar Helm flashed as a rookie last year, catching 44 passes for 357 yards and two touchdowns, he hasn't done enough for the team to pass on the opportunity to acquire a premier tight end. If the Titans want to see Cam Ward take a second-year leap, they should look to add a talented pass-catcher with Pitts' physical profile." said Moton.
When Pitts was coming out of the University of Florida, he was projected to be a can’t-miss prospect. The Falcons drafted Pitts 4th overall in 2021 but he has had an unusual career in terms of production.
He’s had just one season of 1,000+ yards which was his rookie campaign, but he only scored one touchdown that year. He then missed seven games which really dropped his production. In the last three seasons, he hasn’t missed a single game and he’s coming off his best season with 928 yards and five touchdowns.
With the way the offense has been run in Atlanta, along with having Drake London and Bijan Robinson in the offense, Pitts hasn’t lived up to this full potential that he showed in college.
Tennessee has Brian Daboll in charge of the offense and getting someone like Pitts would not only help him take a step forward, but also give Ward a fantastic go-to weapon in the middle of the field.
