The Tennessee Titans re-signed a familiar name for the fan base, as Quandre Diggs is staying in Nashville for another year. Diggs spent the 2024 season with the Titans and his return to the team has a fun twist to it. Not only is the veteran safety back for a second run with the Titans, but first overall pick Cam Ward is his cousin. It's a family affair in Nashville!
Diggs has had a lengthy NFL career despite being a sixth-round pick in 2015, spending four full seasons with the Detroit Lions before getting traded to Seattle during his fifth NFL season. He then played for the Seahawks for another four years before joining the Titans in 2024.
Diggs started four games for Tennessee in 2024 before suffering an injury that ended his season. It's not the most surprising thing in the world to see him come back to Nashville, especially now that his cousin is quarterbacking the Titans.
Titans re-sign Quandre Diggs for 2025 season
Even if the family tie makes this not-so-surprising, the depth the Titans had does make it sort of a "Hmm, interesting" type of move. Amani Hooker and Xavier Woods are both solid starters and the team further invested at the position by adding Kevin Winston Jr. in the third round of this year's draft.
That being said, teams can never have too much depth, especially in the secondary. If any of the starters go down, Diggs is more than capable of stepping in and helping the team. The Titans might be rebuilding with a rookie quarterback this year but it's still good to see them investing in depth and trying to set the team up for success should injuries take place.
Lastly, the Titans showed they have the back of their first overall pick, as bringing in his literal family shows they're committed to making him happy. That's always good to see and Ward should be quite excited to take the field with his cousin this season.
