For better or worse, the most vocal portion of the Tennessee Titans fan base is usually the section that also identifies as Volunteers fans. Every year, there are prospects from the University of Tennessee that enter the draft, then those Titans fans spend all offseason wishcasting them to end up in Nashville, only to be disappointed once the draft is over.

Sometimes, the team is better off without the former Vols, but guys like Trey Smith, Alvin Kamara, and Alontae Taylor are rallying points for those fans that claim the Titans need to try to keep some of those guys in the state of Tennessee.

The good news for everyone is that there is a potential free agent this offseason who played for the Vols in college, and PFF thinks that the Titans would be the best landing spot for him. That is wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

Pro Football Focus projects Titans to sign WR Jauan Jennings in free agency

Jennings spent the early part of his career as a borderline WR3/4 with the San Francisco 49ers. He was a player that the coaches couldn't keep off the field because he was a fierce blocker who fought for every yard on the rare chances he had to catch the ball.

That all changed in the 2023 postseason when Jennings became a consistent threat and nearly won Super Bowl MVP after throwing and catching a touchdown in the game. In the following two seasons, he totaled 1,618 yards and 15 touchdowns, all while still laying the punishing blocks that earned him a chance in the NFL.

New Titans head coach Robert Saleh has witnessed his impact firsthand during their years together in San Francisco, so there is hope that Saleh would be interested in bringing him home to Nashville.

He isn't the only coach on the new and improved staff who would stand on the table for Jennings. New wide receiver coach Greg Lewis has become popular in the fan base for his stance on receivers blocking.

No one would instantly bring the physicality the Titans need at wide receiver more than Jennings. Not only would he reshape the offense, but he is the type of energetic leader to inspire others to come along with him.

As the Titans start taking a big step forward in their rebuild, Jennings is the perfect candidate to overpay to ensure you have the right mentality and leadership in the locker room while also upgrading a position of need.
