The Tennessee Titans submitted their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday afternoon. It all felt very temporary. General manager Mike Borgonzi owned the No. 1 priority on the waiver wire, and previously hinted at actively looking for upgrades to the roster.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that the Titans claimed four players off waivers. Linebacker Dorian Mausi, defensive tackle CJ Ravenell, and cornerbacks Samuel Womack and Jalyn Armour-Davis are going directly to the Titans' 53-man roster. After signing veteran defensive tackle Shy Tuttle on Tuesday, that makes five new additions.

The Titans must release five players from their initial 53-man roster by Wednesday afternoon. The likes of Jaylen Harrell, Timmy Horne, Gabe Jeudy-Lally, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, and Curtis Jacobs feel like five strong names to be at risk of being released to create room for the new additions. Somewhat lost in the shuffle is the fact that the Titans didn't claim an EDGE defender, curiously ignoring the biggest need on their roster.

Titans waiver claims ignore biggest need on roster

CB Samuel Womack

Womack is the most experienced player claimed by the Titans. He earned nearly 700 defensive snaps for the Indianapolis Colts last season, recording two interceptions and seven pass breakups. The scheme change hurt him this summer, as new Colts DC Lou Anarumo prefers bigger, longer cornerbacks.

CB Jalyn Armour-Davis

Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson coached Armour-Davis in Baltimore with the Ravens. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound cornerback also ran a lightning-fast 4.39 at the 2022 NFL Combine, checking the size and speed boxes. Armour-Davis has battled some injuries, but the Titans will attempt to explore his untapped potential.

DT CJ Ravenell

Ravenell is a second-year UDFA who spent 2024 on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad. In the preseason with the same team this year, Ravenell recorded seven QB pressures on 69 pass-rushing snaps. Having added him and Tuttle, the Titans are now momentarily overstuffed at defensive tackle with six players, which probably spells bad news for Horne.

LB Dorian Mausi

Mausi is arguably the biggest surprise because he's an undrafted rookie. He led Auburn in tackles last season and signed with the Minnesota Vikings after going unselected during the 2025 NFL Draft. Mausi graded out well throughout the preseason, earning an overall grade of 80.5 from Pro Football Focus.
