The Tennessee Titans are one of four teams who were able to secure their next head coach as they are going with former 49ers’ defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. This will be Saleh’s second stint as a head coach in the NFL, having been the Jets’ leader from 2021-2024. Tennessee made a home run hire, but now he must deliver his own home run hire for offensive coordinator.
Tuesday night, Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington reported that former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel would be heading out west to join the Los Angeles Chargers as their next offensive coordinator. Losing out on McDaniel is a huge deal, so now Saleh has to assess other options.
One option that is still out there that would be an amazing fit for Cam Ward’s development is Brian Daboll. While his time as the Giants head coach didn’t end so well, there is no doubt that Daboll can be a great playcaller as he was one with the Bills as their offensive coordinator.
While Daboll is someone that Saleh could benefit from having, he is now facing a potential harsh reality of losing out on Daboll in addition to McDaniel.
Robert Saleh faces tough competition for Brian Daboll’s services
According to Dianna Russini, the Bills, who are looking for a new head coach after firing Sean McDermott, have requested to speak with Daboll for their open head coaching vacancy.
The Bills have requested to interview former Giants head coach Brian Daboll, per source.

Buffalo has thrown a wrench in this cycle for not just head coaches, but for coordinators as well. Since they began their head coaching process so late compared to their competitors, that could delay many processes for teams that had plans and were looking to finalize their coaching staff.
The Titans interviewed Daboll for their head coaching job, but he does have a ton of interest for their OC position, partially due to his ties to GM Mike Borgonzi. Now that Daboll has another shot at becoming a head coach, the Titans could be on the outside looking in if the Bills and Daboll decide that they are the best fit for each other.
