The Tennessee Titans signed tight end Daniel Bellinger to a pretty sizable contract during the first day of NFL free agency. By doing so, general manager Mike Borgonzi ensured that he and Gunnar Helm would be the offense's new duo at the position. Unsurprisingly, they had no interest in retaining Chig Okonkwo, who ended up signing a three-year contract with the Washington Commanders.
The Titans decided they weren't done making additions at tight end, however. They recently signed Kyler Granson to a contract at the position, according to various national reports. Granson's addition at a posiiton that already received a pretty sizable investment came as a surprise.
The Titans already had a TE3 on the roster in David Martin-Robinson. Granson is a veteran acquisition who immediately becomes the favorite to dethrone Martin-Robinson for a back end roster role. Borgonzi is promoting competition at the position.
Titans sign Kylen Granson, adding unexpected competition to TE room
Granson played 244 offensive snaps in 17 appearances for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. He recorded just seven receptions. Granson was far more involved on special teams, earning 290 snaps there. This signing may be to strengthen John "Bones" Fassel's unit, though it's worth noting the Titans were very happy with Martin-Robinson, who played a team-high 377 special teams snaps in 2025.
Granson has some proven pass-catching ability. He registered consecutive seasons with 30-plus catches for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 and 2023. They were the franchise that originally drafted him. Current Titans defensive coordinator Gus Bradley was on those teams.
The Titans will be reliant on Helm and Bellinger at tight end this coming campaign. Martin-Robinson and Granson will compete for back-end rotational snaps. With both of them being capable special teams assets, it's possible the Titans carry four tight ends on this year's 53-man roster.
