The Tennessee Titans are expected to enter the market in NFL free agency for an upgrade at pass rusher. General manager Mike Borgonzi is equipped with over $100 million in cap space, a league-leading amount of financial flexibility. The expectation is that some of Borgonzi's offseason resources will be utilized to improve Robert Saleh's defense.

Some intriguing names are currently scheduled to see their contracts expire with their respective teams. The pending list includes Trey Hendrickson, Kwity Paye, Boye Mafe, Odafe Oweh, Jaelan Phillips, and others. Well, another recognizable name just hit the market unexpectedly.

The Miami Dolphins released veteran EDGE Bradley Chubb from his contract on Monday morning, national reports confirmed. Chubb now joins the list of potential free-agent targets for the Titans. The more options Borgonzi can assess to revamp the edge-rushing group, the better.

Chubb has battled injuries throughout his career, but has been an impactful pass rusher when healthy. He's suffered two ACL injuries, in 2019 and 2023. The latter injury caused him to miss the entire 2024 campaign.

In 2023, prior to the Week 15 ACL injury, he had already registered a career-high 11.0 sacks. This past season, Chubb seemingly had no issue returning to his prior form despite sitting out an entire year. The former NC State standout recorded 8.5 sacks.

The Titans don't have any starting-caliber players under contract at EDGE. They traded Dre'Mont Jones for draft-pick compensation at midseason, and Arden Key and JIhad Ward are on expiring deals. Femi Oladejo will be entering his sophomore season in 2026 after enduring a frustratingly inconsistent and injury-riddled rookie year.

The Titans need to acquire at least two EDGE defenders this offseason. That should include a proven veteran, even if the Titans use the No. 4 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft on a pass rusher. Borgonzi and Saleh can't rely on a rookie to carry the unit.

Chubb will have options on the open market. The Philadelphia Eagles loom, as a reunion with their defensive coordinator Vic Fangio may interest both parties. Borgonzi has also prioritized health in free agency, so Chubb's checkered medical past may make him an illogical fit in Tennessee.
